I like Magic Hat #9 but that’s the only MH beer I’ll come back to. It’s a good gateway beer. If a restaurant doesn’t carry a lot of craft beer, they probably have #9 in a bottle on the beer menu. All their seasonal IPA’s have been blah, with the proof being I can’t remember a single name of the 4 Magic Hat IPA’s I’ve had.
As for the Rogue analogy- Rogue has held up better over time and at least made memorable stuff even if it’s out there. The Grape Gorilla concept is just too much for me. Same with the Voodoo Doughnuts flavors.

Someone mentioned to me yesterday that Magic Hat is going through a bit of "rebranding" of sorts. It sounded like recipes were being updated or taken out of production and replaced with all new beers. Has anyone else heard anything to this regard?

They have a DIPA in 16oz cans that is supposed to be their foray into modern NE IPA territory. Its called TFG (that fucking good). I have tried on draft, its ok, but I wouldn't send any to friends!

I've only had 3 of their beers, #9, Big Hundo, and Belgo Sutra (<-- my fave of those 3), and they were all good, but somehow nothing about the brand really calls to me - just seems like there is always something more compelling/hyped around...

Yeah, that's the one they were talking about. Asking to do a tap takeover at our store. Doubt I will do it, but it's ultimately not my decision
