The Magruder's in Gaithersburg is closing. Seems all their beers/wine are half-off. My friend picked up two 4p of Burton Baton and other beers for $6-7 each from the store today. I really hope the Magruders in Chevy Chase remains. It's always nice to do the one-two punch hitting Magruders and then Chevy Chase Wine and Spirits when I head into DC.
Likewise- I tend to go to Rodmans then Magruders. I feel like both stores generally have 99% what Chevy Chase carries (minus the extensive international selection) and is generally a dollar or two cheaper.

glad to see that "magruders" in chevy chase is staying but i wonder how it impacts their selection. loved going there for their beer
The Alexandria location was really bad, dirty, smelly, dim, run down, and cheap off brand food items. It will not be missed.
I had read another article saying only the liquor/wine/beer portion of that location was going to stay open. No grocery.
Gaithersburg is already closed. It took only 2 days to sell the full beer inventory at 50% off. Palo santo and Burton Baton @ 6.50/4-pack!! Ommegang 4 philosophers for $5 a 4-pack!!
Very sorry to see them go. I hope that the Rockville location remains. No beer but a better selection of fruit and vegetables than anywhere else in the county. No place else carries 10 varieties of apples.
