Does anyone know what these mean? My bottle of Mahr's Leicht said, "0312." No clue what this means, as I've seen others post numbers like 4880, which makes no sense.
Ha yeah I thought the same thing. I figured what the hell, I'll grab it. It was a tad sweet and hazy, but not buttery. I checked some old reviews, I think it was ok. Plus, what date would 4880 be (the number on someone else's bottle on an old review)? The 48th month of 2080?
Could be a code similar to Weihenstephan's where the initial 0 indicates 30th day of the month, 31 is the 31st week of the year (July 30-Aug 5), and the 2 is (still) 2012. That way it'd be bottled on 30 July 2012...a bit better than March! But in that context, the 4880 still makes no sense....
I found another review that was dated 5035, which also doesn't make sense. Oh well, maybe I'll e-mail them for future reference. The beer tasted fine, which I suppose is all that matters.
