I have yet to see a Maibock on tap yet. Any sightings yet? Can't seem to get HB Maibock or Ayinger Maibock at any liquor stores in my area (Applejack, Molly's). I did have Rogue Dead Guy Original Maibock at the brewery in Newport, OR last week though. That was a treat.
First sighting is at Green Mountain Brewing. They released their Maibock over the weekend. Good Maibock, not great. They are having a Bock Fest next weekend. Not sure what/who they will all have. But, worth looking into I guess.
Not seeing anything at any of the places I normally trust yet, but it is a little early. Seems like Mexican lagers are popping up everywhere, so maibocks might end up lagging behind. On the plus side, they do usually linger until June'ish and the style holds up to a little age just fine. I'm hopeful someone will get bottles or kegs of the Andechs stronger pale beers. I know they send 'em to certain places, but I haven't seen them here.
I saw a flyer this weekend at the Prost in Highlands Ranch that said they are releasing there’s on April 28.
Bierstadt & Comrade have had them in the past. Bierstadt Heirloom Corn Lager is coming out first I think though.
This is always the thread I'm most interested in each year. So far I've only seen Wayfinder's maibock that showed up in cans. Really good. Also, heads up that Cellar West canned its own bock, not maibock and quite different - darker - but very good the last time I had it. This crowd might be interested.
Prost will be tapping its maibock on Friday at all its locations and having a maifest celebration at the Highlands Ranch location. Not sure if they bottled/canned this year but they have in previous years. Previous iterations of this beer were good enough for me to haul a couple cases down to CB to serve at my rehearsal dinner a few years back.
The various Prost locations now have their maibock on. Their winter bock is pale (and still on) so it might scratch the same itch? Bull and Bush rolled out their maibock yesterday, as well. I've seen nada from the other places that usually/should have one (Bierstadt, S26, Dry Dock, Resolute, Little Dry Creek, Seedstock, etc.) and I don't see much of anything at places like Max Taps or Two Penguins, either. I think it's mainly because "Mexican" and light lagers have taken off. Plus they aren't tied to a date. I've never been much for maibocks, but I feel like this is odd. I bet we at least see one new one from Live Slow next year, though.
I ran into another one at Cheluna last night. They know what they're doing, so I feel comfortable recommending that one without trying it
Urban Roots Maibock dropped cans this week in Denver metro. I believe Rogue Dead Guy is around as well.
Yup, it's good. Maybe a tiny bit hot at 8% (Heller doppelbock territory?) but it tastes right. Their helles is pretty good right now, too. Feels like they tinker with their lagers a bit. When they're "on" they're excellent. When they aren't, they're just kinda hollow.
