Aussie BAers, im gonna send a few btls of aussie beer to a belgian fella who's probably tried naught but a coopers vintage '10 from our shores. Aiming to send beers that are a good showcase of belgian style brewing over here, and/or aussie beers that are just so good they have to be included

    I came up with
Wild thing 2012 / billy b's dark / billy b's golden / la sirene saison / moondog perverse / hop hog
And probably will post a coopers vintage 08 too cos he liked the 2010 he found somewhere in brugges.

So i guess this is sort of a 'what would you chuck in a 6pk to showcase aussie brewing to beery ppl in europe/usa etc.

Just a casual thread in case anyone wanna proffer up their own 6pk suggestions

I definitely wouldn't add Peverse Sexual Amalgam and probably only do one Billy B beer. Maybe Mad Abbott Tripel and Brewboys Seeing Double.

I think Perverse Sexual Amalgam is good (at least the last release) but each to their own

A Murray's Anniversary Ale would be ideal to include if possible. Also consider things like Bridge Road B2 Bomber (I haven't had it but it gets good reviews) or Saison Noir if available. Also Grand Ridge's barleywines might be worth including. Or Empress or Triple Hightail. Or maybe one of Red Duck's many funky new brews. Quite a lot to choose from really.

    Really good box Andrew!

Stuff I've sent to trading partners overseas that have gone down well were: Seven Sheds Stella IPA, Wild Thing, Knappstein, Moo Brew Imperial Stout (oak), Hop Hog.

Mulder1010 has sent a few bottles of Clout Stout out and they have been well received.

interesting and a good general discussion thread that we have not had for a while... moi?
    • Bridge Road India Saison
    • Stone & Wood Pacific Ale
    • Knappstein Lager
all for their 'Aussie-ness', than add in because they are good
    • Wild Thing
    • and the current Aussie Black IPA de jour...

then maybe an out-of-date can of VB for comparison sake :grinning: just to make up the six

i'm with lukie here, i thought freaks and geeks was great and a really unique combination of styles/flavours... i'd even call it balanced.

i've to'd and fro'd over knappstein & also pacific ale... probably only leaving them out due to a 'belgian bent' in most of my chosen six. liking the sound of all the other suggestions as far as a top 6 goes -- but for posting 6 different beers and keeping price down, the typical aussie 'limited release comes in longnecks' cuts out a lot of beers like B2 bomber etc. wish i could justify the transit price of a VB for a practical joke : )

oh and if / when i buy a clout stout, it'll definitely only be for me : )

Sounds like you might have had a dud. It was a superb beer, full of complex malt character.

first post so please bear with me.
Have to ask why would you send "Belgian Styles" or Saisons to Belgium?
Why not send unique beers to your mate. Black IPA's (Murray's or Kooinda) or a Murray's Anniversary Ale to him

I don't see how they are unique to Australia. If we are talking Australian, I would send him beers that use Australian ingredients (hops), such as Feral Hop Hog, Stone & Wood Pacific.............................. something with Pride of Ringwood for the lols?

    Sacch infected Crown Ambassador?

Fair enough question - i guess i didnt explain the whole story before

He saw the moondog perverse video on their website and expressed interest in that beer
So i thought id send a few aussie sours to show how far aussie brewing has advanced in that regard

Then i thought it wouldnt be a half bad idea for a thread

Sending the la sirene cos i think its up to belgian standards and am keen to hear his thoughts
