I think that is one thing that people opening breweries need to consider. Just because your buddies like your homebrew (or maybe only you like it), it doesn't mean you should brew professionally. I can't comment on Infidel's situation, as I never tried their beers. Everything I heard about their offerings was in line with beerinmaine's opinion.

I'm sure there's more info on InsuranceBeerGuy's blog, but does anyone have details on SoMe Brewing out of York? I got an advertisement for them in my FB newsfeed over the weekend. Can't say I like the name, but I'm willing to give their beers a try.

Didn't see this one mentioned at all. A friend of mine was up in the area visiting and grabbed a growler from here. It was a pretty nice porter.

Have seen on twitter that Bissell Bros. has started brewing batches. I believe Foundation and Austin St. aren't too far behind. Portland just got tastier!

Bissell and Banded Horn both brewed first batches last week. Austin St is shooting for early Feb. Foundation just got their shiny stainless (and maybe not all of it yet?) last week.

Was at the Thirsty Pig last night and tried some of "The Substance" new IPA by Bissell Bros.

It was pretty good, as I recall it was fairly low abv (something like 5.5) was incredibly clear, and had some serious tropical fruit flavors going on. Overall a pretty good beer, I was fairly impressed.

    Others try this, thoughts?

I was thought it was quite good - especially when you consider it's the first keg(s) from the first batch on a new brewhouse by someone who's never brewed commercially before. In that circumstance it's an achievement just to have the first batch be drinkable and marketable. Mine was a bit under-carbonated, I think they had some issues kegging it. Aside from that, no complaints and I'm looking forward to more from BBB.
