I will get a lot of hate for this, but I tried 2013 the other night with high expectations and was not impressed. Overall, it's really not a terrible beer. In fact, I think it has a lot of potential. HOWEVER, it is hopped way over the top to the point that the hops totally cancel out the delicious flavors you taste before the finish. I certainly enjoy an exceptionally hoppy IPA, but I don't enjoy when the hops are so intense that they make the beer totally unbalanced. Anyone else feel this way, or at least understand where I'm coming from with this beer?!
Haven't had the 2013, but the Red Wheelbarrow was a little that way. I do like MBC single IPAs a lot, Lunch and Another one.
You're entitled to your opinion. From my seat, I ABSOLUTELY love visiting the Freeport, ME tasting room. I went there three days in a row when I was staying up that way for a music festival. Love the hops. Love the brewery. I have a Lunch in my fridge and am looking forward to drinking it with a RR Pliny the Elder and Jack's Abby Kiwi Rising. My two cents.
I loved the brewery too but he wasn't talking about the brewery, he was talking about the collaboration beer with allagash. How can't you like the tasting room? All that lunch and MO!!! The 2013 was a let down. I was at the brewery last weekend and luckily bought some red wheelbarrow which is awesome!!!
