Then I guess no one will buy it, because it's too expensive.

    Oh wait....

I was just at the tasting room yesterday and from the sounds of it they are making necessary changes to expedite the process. There will be more points of sale and also music and food to try and make the time waiting in line more enjoyable. That being said, with a line of damn near 1,000 people, you should expect to wait. It's inevitable.

$ 7.00 per bottle at the brewery.

I really see no reason why breweries have to hold release events for a single beer. There are so many ways to avoid the clusterf*** that surrounds such events. Have an online lottery, make tickets nonrefundable and don't allow exchanges (to avoid people selling their tickets for above face value), and if you want to give locals a better chance to score the beer, weight local zip codes favorably in the lottery process. If you win, show up during a preset pick-up slot and enjoy your beer! HF's Ann lottery was a step in the right direction; I just wish more breweries would follow suit.

Perhaps to make the fans work for it, rather than get lucky by chance. Nonetheless, I would much rather wait in a line that's releasing variants along with the base product (e.g. sour variants like peach, stout variants like coconut, etc...)

It's because they WANT the clustef***. They love the hype and publicity. It's not about us, it's a business that wants to make $$$ to make up for all the high priced shelf turds that don't move.

I've been to my fair share of releases where the brew master has no problem waiting around and talking to the fans pre release time. Ofcourse, these are much smaller breweries, and the wait time doesn't consist of standing in line overnight

Case in point...Evan from "Plan B" is awesome

Which MBC beers would those be? Because I haven't seen any of their beers hang around in my local bottle store for very long.

Other than Lunch I can get most of their stuff pretty easily...Whole Foods in Central Square had at least Mo, A Tiny Beautiful Something, Peeper, Weez, and Mean Old Tom this past weekend. I've gotten Lunch there before too...

The only retail MBC beers I have a hard time finding are Lunch and Another One. The others I see all the time at most liquor stores I go to in central CT.

Short of lunch and another one there are tons of MBC bottles dying and already dead all over the place.

Of course they want to make money. It's a business with employees and expenses. If I were in that position I would do the same damn thing. People need to stop complaining so much. No one is forcing anyone to wait in line for the beer. As for me, I'm confident that changes are being made and will be in line on release day.

Mean Old Tom, Weez, Mo, Peeper, and Red Wheelbarrow gather dust at almost every store down here (Southern CT) that carries them.

I also think the case is a joke. Limit them to four bottles each. No one needs 12 double IPAs. A four bottle limit would make any release more relaxed. More people would get beer, too.

Why MBC hasn't adopted the Jacks Abby mindset and put their regular lineup in 4 and 6 packs I'll never understand. I mean I buy more Peak and Baxter than I do MBC because the price difference is just absurd.

Martignettis in Brighton always has multiple MBC beers and they're typically dusty.

In April I saw a bottle of Weez at the Cape dated July 2014. I've been wanting to try that beer for a while but I swear I have not seen it with a date fewer than 4 months past.

This thread is taking quite a turn (though the "lots of MBC beers just sit and accumulate dust" lot is the correct party here).

That being said, releases are dumb. (It's been a long day and I'm not articulate right now.) They're ruining craft beer by pandering to the "Hold on, gotta add this to my beer app!" crowd. And, again, if you're making like 500 of these beers, don't allow people to buy a case. Allow them to buy one. That way no one can buy 12 to "trade with buddies" (wink wink) while their wife buys 12 to "share with friends."
