A lot of people said the exact same thing when I joined this site in 2011.

Way to many great beers in Maine to pay MBC prices. People pay it though I guess so good for MBC.

MBC is a shame to me. I really don't think I've had a bad beer from them, most are outstanding - and, like others have mentioned, will have a lunch or old Tom on draft if I see it....and if it's $9 beer night.

That said, the bottles and price point suck. There's no arguing that.

Tbh, they could do with a couple of new beers that see distro. What are they doing that is consistent with keeping up in the marketplace? Doesn't seem like a whole lot but they're still here and fools are still lining up for Dinner so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

So most pints, depending on location, at a bar are $ 6-11.00 or so? Is Lunch is twice as expensive on tap? Guessing not.

At least in the Boston area, Lunch is never served in more than a 13 ounce pour size, often 10 oz. And both are priced the same or above other IPAs served in pints on the menu.

yeah MBC pours are always 10oz.. often even the case with MO.

Great point about the draft size. MBC is always a short pour and always priced like it is a full pint.

Can't say the same for NH or ME.

The places I go to around here will have beers like Peeper, Mo in 16 oz glasses and lunch for the same price in a 12 oz

Here in Maine most places pour 16 oz. of Lunch and they are usually in the $6-$8 range, which is about the same as any other local IPA on draft. So it makes more sense to drink their beer at a bar rather than buy bottles at the same price or a $1 or $2 less.

Bet? A 4 year vertical of bigfoot. Time frame? Hmm. Lets see what the new brewery build out brings. I usually stop by there on my vacy to Portland/ OOB/ Freeport every summer.

...and that is just dumb. How many breweries out there charge more for a pour from the actually Brewery vs. a pour from a bar?

So lame. I had the exact same convo with another one of their employees about the difference in price to what Bissell Brothers charges and he said the exact same thing about the "after work beer." Are they daft? How the hell do they think I would want 1 bottle of Lunch for $8-9 when I can have an even better time with a 4pk of The Substance for $13. The hell?

Part of me thinks they buy their own beer and the majority of their income comes from restaurant/bar accounts. They HAVE to know how bad their business model is.

I'll be up in Maine that weekend for Easter with family. If there are leftover bottles of Dinner do they immediately go on sale to the public after 12:30? If so, any idea how long they have lasted in the past?

Just take the bet at 2 years. You said 1-2 years, right?
    You vs. @bostonwolf bet:

    - He wins if MBC is still in business on March 22nd, 2020
    - You win if MBC goes out of business at any point in the interim

Yeah I don't get their pricing. Last time I went to the Little Tap House in Portland, which isn't the cheapest place, I paid $7.50 for 16oz Lunch pours. That was when I realized I will never buy their bottles again. Plus there's a place near where I work that will sell full Lunch pours for $6. Why would I buy a bottle for the same price as a draft pour?? Insane.

And Substance is usually the same price as Lunch (Or slightly cheaper) at most bars, but it's really nice to be able to get cans for half price.

I guess as long as they're selling bottles, they'll continue to charge what they charge.

I'm pretty sure they do sell leftover cases, but I don't think they advertise that fact. I wouldn't get their too much after 12:30. Maybe 1...
