Having a wedding at a residence in Maine on September 7th. About 90 people, family and close friends, BBQ and a band. Getting a keg of Coors Light for those that prefer it, but want a craft keg as well. Looking for something in the 5% ABV range. We usually lean towards IPA's or hoppier beers, but having a hard time finding the lower ABV.

Any ideas? Tried to get a Founders "All Day IPA" but no luck on a keg. Liked Maine Beer Company's "Peeper," but could only get a 1/6 barrel. May still do that, but would still need to make up the difference from the 1/2 barrel.

Where in Maine? Allagash White would be good. Black Bear Brewing Liquid Sunshine hefe is delicious - just had a keg this past weekend at a reunion.

Sierra Nevada Pale Ale...classic, nice and hoppy, and about 5%

We put a huge dent in a keg of this at my buddy's camp this summer...such a great beer, and I think even more delicious on draft like this. Should be a crowd pleaser too.

Shoot us an email, we are in Portland and can get Founders All Day IPA in 1/4 and 1/2 on the regular. [email protected].

I'd go with Oxbow Farmhouse Pale. Not sure if they come in anything bigger than 1/6 barrels though.

Couldn't agree more - If I was doing it again, I'd have pushed hard to make Oxbow FPA happen for the reception... IF the 1/6 is a problem, might I suggest getting TWO of 'em (And if you don't use it, feel free to send it my way).

    Best of Luck, and Congrats!

I wish we could still post meme's here. I feel like there is a lot of potential with this "Do what's right" trend...

We can do Oxbow Farmhouse Pale and Loretta too. They only send out to retail in 1/6 though.

Pour the peeper. I hosted a party with that on tap a few months ago and people loved it.

Had some Peeper on tap at a local restaurant last week. So fresh and deliciously hoppy. I've had plenty of beer labeled as IPA that weren't that hoppy. A relative bargain at $6/pint. <scratches head abt same retail price with less quality/freshness>

DDG, isn't that the answer to all questions.

I'd recommend this as well if you can get it. Looks like their is a store in Portland that can get kegs and the brewery in Newcastle isn't really all that remote by Maine standards.

I had a 1/6 of Allagash White for my 40th. While the beer is excellent, it was extremely foamy for the barrel. You had to let it sit for a long, long time and would require multiple top-offs just to get a full pint. I told the retailer about it, but I'm hoping it was just something with my particular barrel.

Do you read the posts before you post? There is a guy who has answered the OP twice from a beer store in Portland who has already said he can get that.

Yea, I do. No need for a snarky response. The OP didn't say where in Maine this wedding will be so Portland may or may not be convenient, hence why I mentioned the brewery in Newcastle as another option. Oxbow is a small brewery and depending on where in Maine this wedding is, the OP may very well NOT be able to find a keg of FPA.

Was this just a barrel on ice or from a kegerator? In either event a dispensing system needs to be balanced. Hard to do with a keg on ice, but a requirement to pour foam free from a kegerator.

Just a keg on ice with a standard tap. If you let it settle, it drank fine. There was just an absurd amount of foam.
