Snagged a bottle of this from Kahn's today. Had every intention of cellaring it because everywhere online it says its a barleywine. However, the bottle says its a DIPA, anyone know the scoop?

    Description on bottle says 2xIPA
Description on the menu at FFF says barleywine.

Had one a few days ago. It's really hoppy like panzer wolf, but has a strong English barleywine malt backbone. Similar to behemoth or the other goops when fresh.

Drink it fresh. I've had the last 2 goops (boo and ris) fresh, and I've had them all except hvede aged at least a year. Much better fresh.

Ahh, thank you, kind sir! That's what I was figuring would be the case after a few reviews had mentioned its hoppiness. Cheers!

I thought Risgoop with age on it was amazing. I think I sat on my bottle of it for like... a year and a half. Opened it, and it was still super hoppy, and just so good. Drank more like a DIPA than a Barleywine/Ricewine/whatever wine they called that one.

I'll second DrunkAl. I don't really see how this beer is considered an American barleywine on BA, but the label claims it's a double IPA. I've had it on tap and from a bomber and both remind me of a DIPA that should be enjoyed fresh. For $15 a bottle I wouldn't try aging it

Wow, I must be crazy, because there was no hop bitterness in this one for me, just super-sweet malt, close to cloying in fact, and very, very rich. It was good, but definitely a drink to be shared.

I liked it, I wouldn't sit on it.

Drove to the source and had it on tap, you're right it is super sweet. I solved my own problem though and bought a second bottle.

Think the bottles of this and blot out the sun will last to Friday?

@blue-dream this was one of the beers i was going to give you, original batch from earlier in the year. from what i see around here, it tastes different and different label. i saw the tweets that binnys on grand received some today or yesterday. i had a doh moment because i didn't think more would pop up and figured you would enjoy it. the second beer is also a surprise.
anyway, let me know tomorrow. :sunglasses:
