Aa comparatively new store close to my home in Somerset is BottleCraft (on Easton Avenue at the intersection of Cedar Grove Lane); a beer manager there told me a few days ago that they will very soon be introducing what is planned to be an extensive single bottle/mix-a-six selection in the very near future.
This is very good news, because in recent years I've shied away from purchasing full sixpacks, four packs, and bombers of new beers since so many of them wind up sucking very badly these days.
They do have a very good craft and import beer selection in general, so this shop is definitely worth checking out.

Not sure what you based this recommendation on because I stopped there tonight on the way home from work and they don't have any singles selection at all. The guy who worked there didn't know anything about them ever having one.

If you get an NJCB card, you get 20 percent of mix your own six pack and 10 percent off regular craft beer at Gary's in Wayne.

Amazing Grapes in Pompton Lakes is another great choice for finding exclusive beer in North Jersey. They offer an NJCB discount as well, 10 percent off mix n match craft beer and other discounts.

Lastly, the Liquor Outlet Wine Cellars in Boonton also has some hidden gems. They offer NJCB members 10 percent off one or more singles bottles from the Great Wall of beer.

I haven't been there in a couple of months but they certainly had a singles area then.

That is a bit of an overstatement but it is a place every beer enthusiast should go to at least once

That place is, ahem, unique to say the least. Definitely can find some good stuff there.

Update: Just visited USA Wine Traders Club yesterday. Their craft beer selection wasn't that impressive and they don't have a mix your own sixer policy or sell singles, for that matter.

Although, I must say they had a nice selection of Beach Haus brewery beer (In the cooler and on the shelf they had even more). They also carry a nice variety of Sly Fox from PA and Oskar Blues. They have Jersey Girl Rake Breaker too, but everywhere has that.

After seeing some local people mention how they have picked up some things like Rodenbach Alexander and some of the rarer Firestone Walker stuff I was interested in checking out Shoprite Liquors in Lincoln Park. When I looked at their website, the home page has scrolling pictures of what appears to be their displays of vodka and bourbon and for beer they have a picture of a pretty big wall of singles which I wasn't expecting. When I went there it became very obvious that the beer picture they use is not from their store as not only do they not have any singles, outside of whats in their coolers they pretty much don't offer anything but cases warm. I can't even remember being in another larger store that had no displays of at least bomber bottles outside their coolers. Maybe they get a rare gem here and there but overall they had a pretty weak selection.
