Girlfriend announced she'd like to travel to Wisconsin to check out New Glarus' facility in October. I am overjoyed, naturally. Never been to Wisconsin, and I love New Glarus from the little beers that I've tried.

My questions...beyond New Glarus I intend to pick up some other beers we don't get here like Southern Tier, 3 Sheeps, etc.

Any that I should look out for this fall, and more importantly...

best priced bottle shop/grocery store and which ones have best selection in Wisconsin (preferebly New Glarus area or anywhere in Wisconsin west of there to the state line).

I've priced out cases of Spotted Cow for $32. Is that a good price or can I find better?

    Thanks!

Not sure if they deliver to the area but any Black Husky you can get, personally I am a big fan of their Pale Ale. You probably could find some Karben4 Fantasy Factory. Those are two I really enjoy, but there will be more insight coming from others with additional beers. Safe travels and hopefully you enjoy your time in our great state.

Definitely hit that New Glarus R&D release if you can, they're a crazy good time and the beers are awesome.

The new Black Husky brewery/taproom in MKE will long since be open by then, but that's no indication of how many bottles will be available.

See if you can sign up for a Hard Hat tour. Fridays only, and they sell out months in advance. But since you're making the trip specifically for New Glarus, you might as well try to see as much of it as possible. It's 3-ish hours and tours the new, old, and sour beer facilities. You don't get to drink until the end, though. The regular "tour" is self guided. It's a beautiful facility and the beer garden is a nice place to have a few pints after checking everything out.

I recommend grabbing breakfast/lunch/dinner at Cow & Quince in "downtown" New Glarus. There are some good old-world style pubs in the town, too.

Grumpy Troll is not far away and makes some decent beer.

Not a ton of bottle shops in that area. You probably should venture into Madison and hit up a variety of shops. At that point, it's worth stopping at Vintage Brewing for beer and a delicious burger.

Heading West on 94 (NW actually) you'll hit Liquor Central in Wisconsin Dells. Showboat Saloon in the old Downtown Dells will be a good choice for some interesting growler fills. They have a killer happy hour, too.

La Crosse has a big Woodman's with ok selection. The bottle shop between La Crosse and MN (technically in MN) has a great selection.

Viroqua Co-op has a small selection, if you take that route through Spring Green you'll come close to Lake Louie Brewing, sometimes he does tours. Driftless Cafe in Viroqua is a truly unique place to eat.

If you do make it to Milwaukee, there will be several new breweries open. Many of them will have growlers/crowlers and maybe bottles available. Then you can hit up Discount Liquor and Ray's. Tyranena is between NG and Milwaukee, once you're there it's only another 45 min to MKE. You'll also pass Raised Grain Brewing in Waukesha. They are making great beer.

Make sure to score some Central Waters, Karben4, and Tyranena BGW series. If you are into sour beer, you may even see some O'so 750s around. WI beer game is pretty impressive these days.
