    I have only used Dried Malt Extract for my yeast starters: 100 grams of DME per liter.

    I am assuming that Weyermann's Bavarian Pils extract is a Liquid Malt Extract (LME). The proportion of LME needs to be a bit higher: I would suggest 120 grams of LME per liter. How big of a starter (in terms of liters) is up to you.

    Cheers!

    yeah, just looking for the proportion.
    i ended up dumping some in, swirrling the hell out of it, checking the gravity and building to 1.030

    DME contributes about 45 Gravity Points per Pound Gallon (meaning that a lb of DME in a gallon of solution would have a specific gravity of about 1.045). So to build whatever gravity you want...

    W = (((G - 1) x 1000) / 45) x V

    where...
    W = Weight in Pounds
    G = Desired Specific Gravity
    V = Volume in Gallons

    So for your 1.030 SG starter, and assuming it's (say) a two quart starter...

    W = (((1.030 - 1) x 1000) / 45) x 0.50
    W = 0.33 lbs
