Gonna brew my first batch, was wondering if its ok to add my malt extract cold straight from the fridge or do I need to let it warm to room temp first?

Actually, you want to put it in a bath of hot water and let it get really warm. This makes pouring & dissolving it way easier.

Assuming he is talking about LME and not DME (which it seems like he is). Get DME wet at all and you have a big mess on your hands!

    BTW I hate DME.

It makes a mess everywhere and cleaning with with a wet sponge makes it sticky. I still use it for starters, it just annoys me though.

Yeah it is tricky to dump in, but makes better beer imho.

Definitely agree that it is better than LME. I guess I was just making a general statement. I only brew AG now a days so I am kind of removed from extract brewing other than helping my dad design recipes.
