I discovered "Haffenwrecker" sometime in my twenties (I think it was on a road trip in my senior year) and fell in love with it. It really is hard to come by, but the 16oz 6-packs were always a great price.

King Cobra had solid advertising and Point-of-Sale material, but the taste just never matched-up.

Country Club malt liquor, is both elitist and malt liquor. Best of both worlds.

Mickeys, old e, country club, and steel reserve. That's most of em' anyway. They all taste similar. Not horrible but they get the job done. Getting drunk that is. Sometimes it's fun just to have a throwback with them. Or make "40oz returns" down the ski resort.

I don't think they're puke in your mouth bad but they're not great. They hold their place in my memories.

We got those all over the place here...but I tend to lean toward the Schlitz Bull Ice when the mood strikes...as it did today...drinking one right now.

Probably already mentioned, but Dogfish Head did a Malt Liquor.

Also, I don't think people who don't enjoy malt liquors are elitists. I think, ya' know, they just don't like the same stuff as you. The whole different strokes for different folks thing....

(and this is coming from a guy that has participated in Edward 40 Hands with, much to my surprise, fond memories, ha ha!)

Man Mickeys grenades or Colt .45, I have no problem still slamming either! For any event (b.b.q., lawn mowing, party) that calls for AAL I'd prefer a malt liquor any day!

seriously, this might be the funniest thing i've read on BA.

my malt liquour stories include me being the only white guy on an almost-except-for-me-all-black softball team made up of prison guards during my college days. those guys were the best ... good people. and almost as a bit, they made me drink a st. ides one night in lufkin, texas. yuck!

As I've mentioned in previous posts, I've had the occasional Steel Reserve 40 ouncer. Honestly, not bad at all, IMHO. One of the Alstroms gave it a score of 84, but that is an old review. Since Miller took it over, I don't know if it's still the same. Since you seem to be more into MLs than the rest of these people of high culture, which ones do you like? When it's a couple of days until payday, I sometimes find myself eyeing the cheap beer section. $1.99 for 40 oz. will definitely get you through.

Honestly I need to extend my palate, the last time I had on OE800 I hated it, but it was a while ago. Prepare for an influx of malt liquor reviews in the coming weeks

This thread makes me ashamed to be from Ohio.

Everyone entitled, and all, but if you are an old fart like me, you know that the term "Malt liquor" in its day was solely a marketing term to cover up higher alcohol aimed directly for sale to minorities,

Yes I said it. Get over it, it is true. think about those 70's spokespeople for Colt 45, Schlitz Malt liquor, and so on.
    Redd Foxx, Billy Dee?

    About your Malt Liquor...........

But you can't hold a whole Beer advocate family responsible for the behavior of a few, sick twisted Malt Liquor individuals. For if you do, then shouldn't we blame the whole Brewing system? And if the whole Brewing system is guilty, then isn't this an indictment of our right for quality hops in general? I put it to you, - isn't this an indictment of our entire American beer society? Well, you can do whatever you want to us, but we're not going to sit here and listen to you badmouth the brewers in the United States of America. Gentlemen!
