I am trying to better understand OG calculation and efficiency.

I can find a lot of good info on Malt specifications sheets but I can't find the malt potential in S.G.?

The goal is to get as close as possible to the OG under laboratory conditions and based on actual OG get the efficiency...

So looking as any spec sheet, how would you calculate the Potential (in S.G.) and the Yield in (%)?

    Thanks

Thanks a lot. it was very interesting to read. I have been playing with the formula and comparing data with what's in beersmith and it doesn't add up!
    Using a morebeer base malt:
    https://www.morebeer.com/products/great-western-american-pale-malt.html
it shows a DBCG of 80.1% and MC of 3.9%
So using their formula with a brew house efficiency of 90% we get:
    (0.801-0.039-0.002) x 0.9 x 46.214 or 31.61 to translate to 1.0316

all the base malt in beer smith have a potential between 1.036 to 1.038 SG which is quite different

I guess, is my value far off? Could beersmith data be off? Is there another way to look into this?

    Thank you all

The potential yields for grains are before you apply your efficiency.
