I second that one for sure.... and after about 9-12 months, the hops are pretty much gone from Double Crooked Tree and it drinks more like a barleywine.

TRI-PA from Full Pint. It was malty, but in a good way.

Smuttynose Big A IPA was pretty malty.

Double Crooked Tree, Hopmouth, and I'm surprised no one has said this one: Hop Stoopid.

I would agree with 90 min and Maharaja.

Why would you want a terribly done DIPA/TIPA/any-supposedly-hop-forward beer?

I know it's been said a bunch, but since I had it on tap a couple hours ago, and out of a bottle 2 or 3 times, for me Maharaja has to be the maltiest I've had, I would say 120 but I personally don't really consider that an IPA, in my opinion it's more of a barleywine.

Had a DuganA at the pub the other night. It had a big caramel malt backbone for a DIPA

    Beat me to it.

Tenaya Creek Tandem was really malty.

    Cheers!

You don't need to wait. That one, like 120, IS a barleywine, regardless of what the brewer wants to call it.

Stone's 10th Anniversary brewed back in 06. I still have some of this and it's getting pretty funky

DFH 90 as I don't consider 120 an IPA at all, more an after dinner cordial. American IPA should be base malt and hops, lots of them actually.

Unearthly, Oaked Unearthly, and Gemini from Southern Tier. Those beers should not even be called IPAs. The oaked IPAs from Great Divide fall into the same category.

You realize IPA's were originally oak aged? You could say they shouldn't be called modern American IPA's however.

You mean they didn't have stainless steel thousands of years ago?! Maybe the beer should be brewed with poor QC, stored in a cask, and transported from Britain to India via wooden boat or horse-drawn cart to be considered an IPA.

Not the point. I am just saying that they are still technichly IPA's even if you don't enjoy them. I personally aren't a fan of any you mentioned but they are IPA's.
