Tired Hands beers, Heady Topper, Hill Farmstead, Trillium. They all have this yellow/orange, light yet opaque look to their beers and I'm wondering what kind of malts they could possibly be using. I know color is not only derived from malt, but that's where most of the color comes from. I recently did an IPA with just 2-row pale and 20L crystal and got a SRM of about 6. How do I get that yellowy look to it?

Brew without any crystal ... brew with less crystal ... use 10L.

I would consider using a richer, English-style base malt (Maris Otter, Pearl, Golden Promise...) rather than American 2-row. I would also replace all Caramel/Crystal malts with Munich or Vienna. Maybe use a bit of CaraMunich to get that orange color.

Pale malt/2 row of your choice, flaked oats/wheat, London Ale 3 yeast. Huge late hopping/dry hopping.

As mentioned above read the NE ipa thread.
