I think it is important to separate DIPAs from IPAs because I find most DIPAs need to be maltier by default which I enjoy, so picking a new one at random will usually still agree with me and will be what I am looking for. IPAs not as much and I can find more of them to be pretty bitter. So with that being said my recommendations would be Victory Hop Devil, Heavy Seas Loose Cannon, DFH 60 Min., Bells Two Hearted, Yards IPA, Flying Fish IPA, Brooklyn Brewery East India Pale Ale, Great Lakes Commodore Perry...at this point I have an almost endless list and East Coast/Midwest/English seems to be the way to go if you want a maltier IPA. But oddly enough even though I really enjoy maltier beers I am finding that IPAs in this category kind of bore me now and taste really meh anymore. But yet DIPAs still excite me because there is so much going on in many of those beers.

Who knows, the palate and tastes can be a strange animal. I have always been a Pilsner fan and drink them regularly but recently I have been able to pick out a few little things in Pilsners I have never tasted before, guess the ol' palate is becoming more seasoned after all (pun intended?).

Maybe the old saying of "practice makes perfect" applies here?

    Cheers!

Since you're in SC, maybe you can hop the border over to NC and scoop up some Hop, Drop 'n Roll. That stuff is ace.

Urban chestnut brewing makes an dipa called stlipa, that I think should be just what you're looking for. malty, with old school hops, in more Germanic style. Don't know if they are in your distro though

Some 8 month old G Knight will work, I know where you can find some on the shelf.

I love some malty IPAs. Along with the closely related hoppy red ale, my favorite beer style. Some favorites:

    Upslope IPA
    Odell Runoff Red IPA
    SN Celebration
Arrogant Bastard (not really an IPA, but has the winning combo of malts and bitterness)
    Stone Pataskala
Pipeworks Blood of the Unicorn (more on the red ale side of things, but delicious)
    Odell IPA

Give the Brooklyn East India IPA a try if it makes its way into SC.

    IPA: Victory Hop Devil
Hybrid IPA: DFH Burton Baton (I'm not even sure this is really an IPA - but it's GD good)

Captain Lawrence Seeking Alpha was probably the most malty one I've ever had, but it's a triple.

The new Stone Ripper pale ale has an awesome malt bill and great color.

Not really. An IPA that is very pale and has mostly late-addition hops is just going to taste stale and oxidized when the hops fade.

That's not the same as an IPA that has some flavor from kilned or caramel malts.

In general, greater chance if the the IPA was first released 10+ years ago. Think Victory HopDevil, Founders Centennial, Ithaca Flower Power, Great Divide Titan.

Or go Double IPA - DFH 90 Min, Bells Hopslam, Avery Maharaja, Oscar Blues G-Knight, Dark Horse Double Crooked.

I keep coming across unhelpful suggestions. But Cant Dog by Marshall Wharf is super malty. The IPAs I have had by Bolero Snort out of New Jersey are also quite malty.
