A few professional brewers I've talked to said they've tried it and it didn't work at all really, THC isn't very soluble in low alcohol concentrations. They said best bet is to make a tincture and add it in secondary.

Seems like a sensible question coming from a BA member who joined the site on 4/20

    The Dominican beverage?

    Wiki states...

"Mama Juana is a mixture of bark and herbs left to soak in rum (most often dark rum but the use of white rum is not uncommon), red wine and honey"

I once had a dry herbed brown ale that was tasty and had the desired effect. However, that was over 20 years ago. The stuff available now is much more potent and has a lot more off flavors to contribute to a beer. Consuming some of this herb on its own between sips of Heady Topper or your home made hop monster could be quite nice though.

I have heard of beer recipes that use Port wine or Port barrels. Wikipedia says the Mama Juana has a Port wine taste, so you could probably start there.

indeed. i brought the chips back ages ago, and make the full on drink - honey, red wine, and rum all mixed together on the chips. i've made it a few times on the same chips, now i figure, what better to do with them than make some beer with em. i was just wondering if its been done, and if so, which style of beer to go with?

Not beer but I have made a mead with the mamajuana herbs from the DR that came out great.

The forum is beer only so the mods will lock the thread or delete it if mead recipes are posted.
