What's it taking to snag one of these at the moment? Any insight appreciated.

They occasionally surface with other Cantillon in the retail market, but are about as rare as Fou Foune. They can be purchased from overseas and are obtainable by trade. I think they trade similar to Cuvee des Champions, maybe a little tougher to get than St. Lamvinus. I would guess, for the right trader, CBS, Hunahpu's, or King Henry+ could get it done

For the right trader, yeah. Hunahpu's more likely. But, Cantillons, particularly limited ones like Mamouche, aren't exactly flooding the trade market. You're also talking about a $30 bottle. I would say it would take 2 of the 10,000 bottle count $15-ish ilk to land one Mamouche from most traders. i.e. 2xKH, or a CBS and a BCBS Coffee, etc.

Really....wow....glad I inquired. Not that I have the least bit of knowledge on any of the Cantillon beers but just after reading reviews and seeing that it looks to be brewed annually (could be totally wrong about that) now I thought maybe it might be on the easier side to get. But thanks for the info.....def looks to be the first cantillon I want to track down.

It is annually released, but extremely low bottle counts. Probably no more than 1000 or so make it to the US. Figure no more than 3x or so that worldwide.

The easiest Cantillon to go after is the Classic Gueuze - they make the most of that by far. It also happens to (arguably) be their best beer. After that would be Rose and Kriek. Then it gets a little dicier, but regular releases roughly in descending order of ease of obtaining... Bruocsella, Iris/Vigneronne, Lamvinus/LP Kriek/Mamouche/Champions, LP Gueuze/Fou Foune. Then there are lots of one-offs that you have to give away first born children for. These all change up a bit based on what just came out and/or what hasn't hasn't released in a while.

    Hope that helps...

I think your numbers are off. I am pretty sure there are about 3000 bottles of Fou Foune made each year and its the smallest release. Cuvée des Champions is probably less since its only released in the US under that label (St Gilloise elsewhere). Mamouche I think is about as rare as Fou Foune.

I said about 1000 Mamouche's make it to the US, with 3x or so that worldwide. (Which means about 3000 bottles)

You said FF is 3000 bottles, and that you think Mamouche is about as rare as FF.

So where are my numbers off?

Another thing about Mamouche is that I find people either love it or don't care for it. Not sure if that plays into it's value but people dont usually care what some of these beers taste like.

Mamouche is $22-$23 for a 750ml, and Fou Foune is $27-$28

I sent a Mamouche out for a KH before the "KH Craze" hit, and after the fact, I felt guilty that he sent out a KH.

I don't see a Mamouche landing 2x any of those beers, and I bet 1:1 for KH is even a stretch right now.....

Mamouche is 50 bucks a bottle at a local shop here. I'm itching to pull the trigger. My last bottle was $32

Bought one for $35.99 in December, traded it as part of a larger trade for some Eclipse stouts.

I bought one for 30 bones about 2 months ago.

It all depends on the trader, though. For myself, I don't think I would trade it for 2 King Henry's and Jparkanzky (please don't take any offense) thinks it would go 1:1, if that.

It's the weird world of trading that we all live in. Just throw up an ISO with something(s) that you are willing to let go. If it doesn't happen, try again with more or different stuff.

    Good Luck OP!

Ya I don't think I would trade 2x any of those beers but I'm not nuts about sours...I enjoy them but is much rather have a good RIS or barleywine.

I could see myself spending that much for a bottle but prob wouldn't drop anymore then that unless I tried it somewhere and loved it.

Thanks for all the info everyone, big help.

Mamouche is not $22-$23/bottle. Very few stores sell it for sub-$30, and plenty sell it for more. Internationally is going to cost you $30-$35 shipped easily. Just because a store sells it at a rock bottom price does not mean that is anywhere close to what most people pay for it. That's like saying KBS costs $3.75/bottle just because 2 stores sold 4-packs for $15.

So, I don't see how you figure a $30 3000-bottle count release can't score 2 $15 12,000 bottle count bottles. Escpecially a Cantillon, which has as high of a trading value as any brand out there. King Henry is an extreme oddball and in fairness we probably shouldn't even be discussing it here. But two BCBS Brambles or Coffees for a Mamouche? Easy peasy. Hell, you'd find plenty of Mamouche owners who wouldn't do that deal because it's not enough.

Ya your right about the KH references....can't really go off bottles of that but I can see multiples Bramble, Coffee and so on fetching Cantillon bottles.

I was going off of what I had paid at more than one shop for a bottle of Mamouche.... It doesn't matter though, because there is nothing to say you have to trade $4$ and obviously prices vary. I seem to recall someone finding a bunch of Cantillon in KY and it looked to be priced similar to what I find here.

The KBS I bought yesterday was $5.50 per bottle.... So "normal" I'd say.
