Mango Mama is on tap at Town Hall today. I thought about keeping this a secret amongst my buddies and myself, but figured this was too good to keep secret.

This has been my experience as well. Mango Mama has been increasingly easy to get in the last few years. Still worth it just about every time, though.

nope. I find it surprising that no other brewery has released a Mango IPA(to retail). The combo seems to work pretty well.

Then you should go have it ASAP. TONS of Mango!

Town Hall only does growlers on Anniv. Week

Have you had it before? If so, what's your thoughts?

Recently, Troegs released its Mango Triple IPA, Scratch 58 as part of their Scratch series of beers. They bottle many of these, and offer growlers at the brewery. However, this was not bottled, and was a definite DONG. However, at least one or two kegs escaped the brewery. A couple weekends ago I was at an event. Apparently the gentleman who came up with the recipe for Scratch 58 was in the house, and there was a keg as well. Marvelous stuff. Amazing citrus in this. I wish I could drink this every day. We had this on a day that revolved around a Pliny the Younger tapping, along with Elder, Blind Pig, Bitter Valentine, Abner, and so many others. To me, however, this was the star of the show.

Is there a lot of variation from batch to batch? The only time I had it I got nothing but mango. I couldn't even tell there was an IPA in there somewhere. Hated it to be honest.

When it comes to their infusions, they are completely random. When one keg of whatever infusion kicks, they tap the next one on deck.

And as others have said, they do it much more regularly it seems as compared to the past. Keep in mind they do go through infusion kegs quicker it seems.

I've noticed the mango flavor varies batch to batch....one time it was perfect and really complemented the hop flavors...the other couple times I had it I was not impressed...but that one time it was perfect.....that has me coming back...not saying the others were bad or anything just not 99 out of 100 good

Anyone know how they add the Mango to this?

I've used un-sulfured dried mango (trader joe's) before to a sour homebrew; just recently added about 40 oz. of Mango puree (from a south asian store) to an IPA, not yet bottled.

I believe one of the growler-release offerings they did was mango puree, which did not turn out as well as their usual aging on mango slices (fresh not dried, I think). Someone feel free to correct me if I am mistaken...

This is pretty accurate. One batch of growlers was huge so they used a puree which made the beer turn out different. Normally they use fresh mangoes and lots of them
