I'm headed to the Big East tournament in March, and I'll be in NYC (midtown) for 4 1/2 days.
I'm going to take a day and go to Brooklyn and likely visit Grimm and Other Half. Any must stops other than those two? Any must stop beer bars or restaurants?

I looked for other threads on this but couldn't find them. I understand that I could search the city as a whole on BA, but like to get peoples actual opinions.

    Cheers

OH and Grimm are the two must-stop breweries, if you have more time to kill around OH you can also check out Folksbier and Threes, Grimm is 2 blocks from Interboro, and 2 subway stops from KCBC.

Bars worth checking out in midtown are As Is, Ginger Man, Haymaker, Rattle n Hum, and Hellcat Annies.

After OH go to Threes, their to go beer fridge is killer... Stock up on loosies from all over the metro area (make sure to grab whatever they have by Suarez Family).

Everyday they take picture of the fridge for IG.

    Yoinking @frozyn's lists:

Breweries: Other Half, Grimm, Threes, Interboro, KCBC, LIC Beer Project, Fifth Hammer, Folksbier, Transmitter, Singlecut, Iconyc, Keg & Lantern, Greenpoint Beer & Ale, Brooklyn Brewery, Five Boroughs, Wartega, Island to Island, Evil Twin, Bridge & Tunnel, Circa, Torch & Crown, Stronge Rope, Sixpoint, Big Alice, Alewife

Bars/Shops: One Mile House, Blind Tiger, Rattle n Hum, Fool's Gold, Sputyen Duyvil, Good Beer, Proletariat, Augurs Well, Mission Dolores, Haymaker, Torst, Mugs Ale House, Brouwerij Lane, Covenhoven, Gold Star Beer Counter, Owl Farm, Glorietta Baldy, Cardiff Giant, Bar Great Harry, St. Gambrinus, The Well, Fraunces Tavern (cuz it's 300 god damn years old this year), any Clinton Hall, Top Hops, Milk & Hops, Beer Culture, District Tap House, Ginger Man, As Is, City Hops, The Jeffrey, Alewife, Bondurants, City Swiggers, Dive Bar, Bierwax, any Barcade, Beer Karma, Bierocracy,

Personally I think out of the breweries: OH, Grimm, Threes, Interboro are all worth it. Out of the Bars/Shops there pretty much all good, maybe Tørst is the must visit though as it usually has a great taplist and the food is actually pretty good if a bit pricey.

Haymaker is literally a 2-minute walk out of the Garden on the west side of the building. That’s a must-hit for you. It’s so close you could literally run there at halftime drink a quickie and get back before the 2nd half starts. Tap list is always top notch and they usually have cans (overpriced, it’s a bar) to go.

Oh, Instagram and Beermenus are your guide while you’re in NY. Double oh, there are a few concession stands that sell good local taps in the Garden. I don’t remember exactly where they are but it’s pretty cool to get a big pour of LICBP Higher Burnin’ at a game.

It's somewhere on the 100 level, always worth seeking out. Basically the same price as the rest of the beer in the stadium too.

Consider taking the tour of Five Boroughs Brewing Company in Sunset Park, Brooklyn. Very short walk from the N, R or W trains.

Another vote for using beermenus. It's a great resource and the best bars/shops in NYC update their pages daily.

Definitely seek out Suarez. They make my favorite beers in the area. I'd also be on the lookout for beers from Carton. A fantastic brewery located in New Jersey that sees limited distribution in NYC.
