Just caught on to their "First Friday" releases via IG. I've been up there a couple of times and bought their cans in DC. Always felt that the beers were somewhat lackluster. Can anyone share if their quality has improved since they started holding limited releases back in July?

There's no dedicated thread for MH at present. Perhaps there should be one with the new release format?

EDIT: IG post from 10/22 refers to a new head brewer which has them jumping into Milkshake IPAs. Howd that turn out?

Manor Hill has been pretty hit or miss for me. I have enjoyed the Hidden Hopyards that I've had. Sometimes their beers come off as overly bitter to me.

I think every time I have Citra Splendor I change my opinion on it. Sometimes I think it's great, sometimes not so much. And I don't think it's a quality control issue because I can have that varying opinion within the same 4 pack. I think it is just a very volatile brew and the flavor profile changes frequently.

Thanks much. This variance has persisted since end of October though?

Actually haven't had a Citra Splendor in a few months.

The only Manor Hill I've had since October is Right Brain from a crowler and it was decent.

The beers have taken a considerable downturn since Ben Little left some time ago.

The Pineapple Malt Shop was okay. I haven't had the black currant but I know many who think its pretty awful. They were really dialing in the Hidden Hopyard series before Ben left. Last one was good but not the same. I think both Diamondback and Monument City make better beer now locally.

And Goonda. And even Key Brewing has stepped up their game.

i was not a fan of the black currant at all, but hidden hopyard 10 from the november first friday release was good. the last couple of times i have had citra splendor i have thought it was spot on as well! i think my wife is going to swing by friday after work and grab some of the new stuff.

@Darwensi , i would recommend giving them a try if you can get some of their newer releases.

Every IPA I've had from them over the past couple of years has tasted like band-aids. I've stopped giving them chances.

my wife went by after work yesterday. she got 3 four packs of each, so a nice mixed case!

the triple ipa was very tasty. darker in color than so much of what is out now, and that is fine. great finish, almost a bit sweet. way too drinkable for 10%!

the farmhouse ale was interesting. the aroma was funky and not pleasant. it was a fantastic tasting beer, i was very impressed!

    worth checking out imo!

Their IPA has been a completely different beer each time i've had it, but the most recent version was really nice. A little hazy, low bitterness, no sign of off-flavors.

And for all the inconsistency in their IPAs, they make a damn fine pilsner that has been great each time i've had it, both in cans and on draft.

certainly agree on the pilsner, and i almost never select that or the grissette, which is also a nice beer.

The Farm Fuzz is consistent and good.

And I sparingly get their IPA, but I've never had a problem with it.
