Hey all. My friend and I were contemplating trying to brew a maple pumpkin stout this winter. I was curious if anyone knows of any such beers that exist, and if so, how was it? Any input would be appreciated. Thanks guys!

I would use those small pie pumpkins or if you can find Hubbard Squash.

Perennial Peace Offering is a brown ale with maple roasted squash. If you use pumpkin, make sure they are sugar pumpkins, and you want the pumpkins with more ridges as those are the sweeter ones.
Another way to approach it would be to make a really good maple amber a la PEAK organic The Maple Collaboration, then mix it with a really good imperial pumpkin stout a la Harpoon Imperial Pumpkin. You get to make twice the beer

Southern Tier brews an Imperial Pumpkin you could use for a flavor profile that you are chasing. It ain't bad compared to the more commercial pumpkin brews I have had out there.....no names, although it should be pretty obvious. Cough---Blue Moon....hack.....Buffalo Bill's.

They're gourds/fruits, not veggies. Thought I'd clarify haha.

Last year I brewed a chocolate pumpkin Porter. It was a pretty darn good brew but the roasty flavor was a bit overpowering so I should have used more pumpkin to balance the flavor so make sure you use a good amount of pumpkin.

You might want to try to incorporate a couple of the ideas from the two beers brewed in this video. Good luck.

While adding pumpkin, sweet potatoes, etc to your beer will give you some body, what you are looking for is pretty much just the spicing in a pumpkin beer. Most of them have enough pumpkin to say it's in there, but it's mostly just the spices that everything knows from a pumpkin pie.
