I've located the problem, and it's not Maplewood.

I feel your pain. But also how about an 11 or noon open? Regardless of where you live a 4pm weekday release during rush hour makes zero sense unless you live right there

I ended up getting some but since you seem like a nice guy I can try to get you a can or two if any are left by the time we get there around 6 on Friday.

Zero sense to you, but they have a business they’re running, and 4 pm is the time they open regardless of a can release. Also, these releases have lasted quite awhile on tap, which is generally a better experience. You should be able to get a crowler no problem if you fiend for this one that bad.

If they release at 11 or Noon, people who work 9-5 can't get it (if it's that limited... no idea on output numbers). If they release at 4, it's tough for the suburbs to come in with traffic. As usual, beer releases will never satisfy everyone.

Very true, you can never satisfy everyone. Love maplewood but getting to their brewery is just not feasible for me. I have to get there stuff in distro which hopefully ramps with the new releases. Would love to see Cuppas all over Chicagoland

my original plan for Saturday was to go to maplewood, pick up the releases, then drop them off at a friends before fobab. Sounds like my friend won't be available for me to go drop beer off at his place... we are taking an uber/train into the city so I don't really have any other options at the moment. Any chance that someone else here is going and I can have you hold my beer for me until a later date (or even just until after fobab)?

Again, I will be at maplewood to buy these. Not asking someone to mule for me

I went to Lucky Dorr last night to try Cuppa BA Breakfast, and was pretty pleased with it. I thought it was very well balanced, and had a good body. Lots of maple right away, and the barrel was more on the subtle side at first, with it really only hitting on the finish for me. But after a few sips, it became more apparently, but still not an overt sweetness from the barrel a la BCBS. It was a tasty beer, and I probably would've enjoyed it even more if I took the time to casually drink it and let it get warmer as opposed to being in a rush to get back home.

Anyone try Cinnamon and Coconut yet? I thought it was going to be on at MikerFOBAB, but I could be wrong.

Tried it yesterday at the miker event. Very heavy on the coconut, but didn’t really get any other adjunct or barrel from it. Also, it had almost no carb to it. Still tasty, but I’ll be passing on cans Saturday

This makes me feel a little better. I was considering grabbing cans, but then realized I need to pace myself this year (and I just grab some bottles from Cruz Blanca).

Considering I'm much more interested in the coconut aspect as opposed to cinnamon, this actually sounds good to me. And I'm not too sensitive to a lack of carb in stouts, so I better get my mule game on since I won't be around on Saturday.

Never been to a Maplewood release before. Is this a cash only situation? Or will all I need is a plastic to purchase CUPPA stouts?

Also pretty excited to finally try this stout series!

Not cash only. Walk in, they usually have cans on the right side of the lounge. Get what you want and pay on the right side of the bar (the center bar line will typically be for drafts). You can pay for both at either line, just tends to naturally flow this way for their releases.

What’s the prediction for when these sell out? Would love to go over after Fobab if they’re still going

No idea honestly. I’ve only gone to a few. Cuppa Hazelnut lasted a couple days. Salted Caramel Pug sold out day of. They usually announce on social media when things sell out.

Holy crap, just saw their story on Insta. Was hoping I’d be able to run in this afternoon and grab some, but not looking likely. That line is deep.
