The main reason is liability from the licensee's standpoint. A server can't monitor your consumption if you are drinking your own beer. Though this, like most liquor laws, are with us from repeal. It probably does need to be ammended, but it's still the law for now.

 

yes i can see the stand point but as you said it definetly needs to be ammended if your at a packed bar there is no way a bartender can keep an eye on every person especialy if your just downing beers fast it might not hit you untill you leave.

The Thursday thing was more of a thing for Jeremiah to check out the pinball lair before he leaves, but it's not looking too promising right now.
