Bro it's all about the sarcasm.

I'll go on a limb and GUARANTEE you won't burn in hell or get hit by a truck because you paid below market value for some beer. It's all good.

    Cheers!

Got a 4 pack of Weyerbacher Imperial Pumpkin for $3.99 a four pack. They were from 2013 but were on sale in October last year.

Have also gotten Empire's Imperial Stout for $2.99 a 4 pack. Not a very good beer, but at 10% and at least decent, I bought a few.

They recently had White Birch's Hop Session for $1.99 per bomber. I laughed because it was next to the $1.99 Yuengling 22oz, yet a guy came in and while I was picking it up he grabbed the Yuengling. I convinced him to grab one of the Birch's too to see if he liked it. He obliged. I still wonder what that guy thought of it. Though he might have been homeless, tough to say.

That store I frequent regularly gets old/overstocked beer for super cheap, and then sell it just as cheap. It's awesome because you can walk out of there for beer that's being sold for 4/5x as much elsewhere.

You missed point. You actually made a good point with your sarcastic whit. I'm surely not worried about that. But like I said there is something to be said about honesty and integrity. Its a dying art. But enough said. I'm way off course and this about beer. Take it as you will.

I don't find paying below market price for beer as evil. If I were friends with the shop owner and I took advantage of this then maybe.

And I don't believe you have made this point but for anyone else who wants to bring morality into the equation, I'm sure these same folks police craigslist and let the posters know when they are selling their stuff below market value.

    It's karma right?

Went to my store tonight and they had the 2014 Abita Bourbon Street at 3.99/bomber. Haven't had it but at that price I had to buy 4. Figured it can't be that bad :grinning:

Ohhh.... can you guess what I will be drinking tonight!

Whom said anything about evil? Or morality its obvious you're trolling. But thanks for the Latin quote you're so smart!
You'll screw the guy you don't know but not the shopkeeper you do.. Seems like a double standard. Like I said its up to the individual. Not saying I haven't done it. If someone dropped a twenty and you were right behind them and they didn't notice would you give it back or pocket it. Theres no right or wrong. Never said there was. And the prices the op paid were like 60% below. What if the poor old bastard couldn't pay his rent. Anyway get back to your school project. Thanks for setting me straight. Now I'll just keep drinking my beer I just shoplifted and keep my mouth shut.[/QUOTE]

There was no need to do that, since the OP clearly stated that the beers were "...marked down, 50% off."

Even if they weren't so marked, and a curious buyer inquired why the beers were priced so much lower than normal retail, the retailer would have explained that they were discounted to unload the slow moving/out of code stock and that the price was not an error and the retailer was knowingly selling them below their own wholesale cost.

Few buyers would have an ethical objection to that - although some brewers might not like such a policy. Many breweries would rather see old stock pulled and destroyed rather than sold.

My bottle shop buys last seasons beers at a big discount and passes those savings on to the consumer. Most of the time there are duds, but they are cheap duds to give a shot like Shiner and Sam Adams stuff. One time they had SN Bigfoot from the year before for 3.99 a 4 pack!!! I told him he could probably sell them for more since higher abv beers tend to age better and he told me he would feel bad for price gouging because he got them so cheap! I picked up a few and waited a couple weeks to let others stumble upon a deal and no one ever did, so i cleaned them out and was just shy of a case. My beer fridge was happy for a good while.

Stores around here (VT/NH) have fire sales everyday. Some things I wouldn't touch with a ten foot pole (to numerous to mention), some make me almost shout with glee (Ommegang variety pack, nine bottles and a glass for $12.99) and some make me purchase something I normally would not (Rogue Chocolate Donut Whatever Crap for $2, or the barely worthy, almost out of code Shiner Bock case for $9.99). Local store now has Stone Master of Disguise for $2 a bomber. This is not a moral issue, like in the other thread. I've even posted on BA about ongoing sales to give local BA's a heads up.

Just got a case of pearl necklace oyster stout for ten bucks. Even if it sucks i can just reuse the bottles for homebrew.

I got a 12 pack of SN Celebration for $6 back in January. Bottled in November, so less than 3 months old. It was delicious.
