Looking for a little help with any places to stop in the above NY area. Heading up this weekend for a quick trip to my girlfriend's parents place. Any solid bottle shops/beer bars? Local beers to try? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

My wife's family is from the Hudson Valley as well. There is a huge beer store (half time) in poughkeepsie. As far as local breweries there are quite a few but the gems of the area are Rushing Duck, Peekskill and Captain Lawrence probably all of which are around an hour from where you will be.

Brewery at Bacchus in New Paltz is the one brewery you need to hit.

    How far above nyc?
Half time has 2 locations. 1 in Mamaroneck and 1 in poughkeepsie.
Deciccos has a few great locations for beer. Both for take out our on site consumption in their taproom. Ardsley, Armonk and brewster are their locations. Beacon has a couple good beer bars. Draught industries and the hop. Poughkeepsie has schatzis.

As per what brewery it really depends on style.
If you like sours and such captain lawrence has brewery exclusive bottles. Can be a little expensive, running $15/375 ml.

Brewery at bacchus beers are great. As of yesterday, they have holy mole, an abraxas/mexican cake clone; et cetera, a saison; and, pillow hat, a pale ale.

Rushing duck has a can release this week of 2 of the beSt IPAs in the HV. They also have some good variety when it comes to their other beers. ..no sours.

Also, NEBCO isn't that far of a side trip either.

Rushing Duck is in Chester, so it's near to Middletown and in fact in between Middletown and Poughkeepsie. Fantastic lineup at Rushing Duck right now. In Poughkeepsie Mill House has good beer, great food, North River has good beer, Shatzi's has great German food and solid tap list. I live near to Marlboro, next town over in fact, and the Underground Cafe has a solid tap list, it's in Highland, but go the extra ten minutes to Bacchus, in New Paltz, even though they don't have their top beers on right now, their guest list is solid, and you can hit Shatzi's new location in New Paltz too, it's about 100 yards away.

I haven't been getting out and about the HV as much as would like, but as been mentioned Rushing Duck has a very good lineup right now and I hear a lot of good things about Brewery at Bacchus. Half Time in Poughkeepsie sells everything in singles, so it would be a good stop to load up on some local/regional beers.
