Good beer. I hear last year's was pretty hot. Not this one. Great mouth feel, abv is in check, and the flavor is really good. The fact that in comes in two 12oz cans (in a kick ass box) instead of a bomber for $12...icing on the cake. I'm slowly becoming a MH fan boy. They've got both hands on the reins. I hope they grow and make more good beer.
Always wanted to try it.. but MH is tough to find out in west Texas. My brother said that they're having their 4th anniversary on march 25th.. supposed to have a bunch of exclusives, barrel aged beers and seasonals. Wish I could go.. But I visit MH every time I come visit the parents. My favorite FW brewery, followed by Panther Island.
I had a can a few nights. It's very solid but mine was indeed boozy. I think it'll be excellent in a year or so. Wish it wasn't so hard to get a box.
haven't had this year's, but last year's was probably the only beer i've been impressed with from MH. solidly, unique ideas...not so solid executions
I must disagree. For a whisky barrel aged stout, this is not boozy. The alcohol is not unpleasant or harsh/hot. Letting it sit for a year will thin the MF and weaken the barrel flavor (which is kind of light as it is). But to each their own.
Mine was hot and harsh and the few friends who had it last night agreed. I do agree that the barrel notes were thin, especially considering the heat but like you said, to each his own, I think a year will do this one well.
I tend to agree overall. While I'm not a fan of blonde Ales, the Counter Clockwise Swirl last year was a solid beer.
I wonder if there's some variance between cans. Had it again...no heat. Or not unpleasantly hot anyway. Oh well, I've got a few more boxes. I'll report back if there's one that I find hot. Cheers.
Very possible, they claimed this was unblended. I guess different barrels could be a bit hotter. I've only had 1 box, drank one by myself and shared the other can. I did find a second box from the same shop and I'm going to sit on it a while.
