I'm surprised Marz doesn't have its own thread... I searched for one. If one exists, mods can delete this one.

I've been enjoying a lot of the brews put out by Marz. Northwest burbs get most of the mini bomber releases.

Does anyone know when/where jungle boogie tallboy cans are? I saw they tweeted a pic of the cans, but haven't seen any yet.

I believe those cans were just available out of state. I surmise that they used a canning line elsewhere to grow their brand a bit outside of Illinois. BTW, great job on starting the thread as it is needed. Also, Double Jungle Boogie bottles dropped last week so grab em while they're fresh!

I have only had a few of their beers. I really liked Double Jungle Boogie, but don't think regular Jungle Boogie did much for me. I also had Citra! Citra! Citra! which I thought was fine, but don't seek it out. It seems like the prices are tough with Marz - perhaps canning could help out with that.

I like most of the beers I have had by them, particularly the jungle boogie bottles, but the prices are real tough to swallow so I generally pass.

I've had some hits & misses with Marz. I dug the Marzcal Kolsch even though it seems most people didn't. I enjoyed DJB as well. Couple others were not too memorable. But yeah, at ~0.60-0.70 per ounce with these 16.9 ounce bottles, I'm passing on their beer now. There are just too many other good options available at more reasonable prices. And they don't bottle date (at least I've never been able to see it) either so another negative for me. Not a big deal for new one-offs but on some of their more frequent releases it creates some doubt as to freshness.

I think Marz has really upped their game over the last 6 or 12 months.

Good company to support. Owner seems invested in improving his community.

I want Splash in cans. That beer was fantastic. Actually I'll take more splash period

I believe it was brewed and canned at Against the Grain but won't see any distribution here due weird distribution laws. Hopefully they get around those as I would love to crush those regularly.

Had a chance to try Liquid Dreams recently and enjoyed it a good deal. Not sure on the bottle date....I don't think it was super fresh but it seemed to hold up well.

Yeah LD might be my favorite Marz brew but I think it's been a while for fresh ones. Be sure to re-visit it next time they release it and see if there's a difference

I was talking to Ed Marszewski last time I was at Marias and can conform that this is correct. Marz was/is brewing some of their beer at Against the Grain and using their canning line, but since AtG is in Louisville, KY, Marz cannot "import" and sell the cans in IL unless they sign a distributor and send the cans through the distributor. Marz does not want to sign with a distributor so they are only selling the bottles in IL and the cans are sold elsewhere. There are no plans to have cans in IL right now.

I agree that its a real shame because presumably the cans would have been much cheaper than the bottles.

For me, I've really enjoyed everything I've had from Marz - but at the price I just don't drink it often. If I'm at Maria's I'll get whatever Marz has on tap and occasionally I talk myself into one of their beers. Had Splash recently and it was awesome. Also Earl Ragnar - their quad aged in 4 roses bourbon barrels was out of this world.

Sucks on the cans but will continue to buy their beer.

    Ruby Tears is so good.

In my opinion, Marz will be a victim of market saturation unless they get a taproom or brewpub open so that people can access their spectrum of beers without having to invest in the bottles. Too much competition on store shelves to roll the dice on them (though the stuff I have had has been good) knowing how world class beer is already on shelves.

Damn. I would love to try the cans. I've only bought one of their bottled beers. I always balk at the price point.

I mean, Maria's unofficially kind of serves that purpose. No its not their taproom, but they generally have several of Marz's beers on tap at any given time. I think the bigger danger is if their stuff remains priced as it is currently.

I would agree with this more so, as Marz is not the first local brewery to be sending out good beers for a few years without an established taproom.

I echo all the sentiments itt about their pricing. That said, glad to see cans showing up in NYC. Big fan of the Jungle Boogie variants.

@MosaicDrops Im curious, I know NYC is notoriously expensive for beer, but what are the cans of Jungle Boogie selling for there?

Their Nasal Cavity wasabi stout is on fire!
Though I recommend ppl try at Marias for $7 vs paying $17 for the bottle at most shops.

I didn't think canning itself is what drops prices significantly. I always assumed it was more about bulk pricing that is possible once a brewery expands and has more space to store grain/hops

Maybe someone with some experience can jump in and explain if I'm right or wrong.
