Mashing in Kettle

    Oh, I wouldn't leave it on when I was heating. I've seen pictures where someone made one of these and used velcro strips to make it easy to remove quickly.

    Using Velcro is a clever idea, but I wonder if the strips would stay on when heated?

    In the example I saw, the strips weren't in direct contact with the kettle. With the insulation between the velcro and the kettle, I would imagine they wouldn't get too hot.

    I understand now - part of the Velcro wasn't attached directly to the kettle in order to attach to the other part of the Velcro on the insulation, but both Velcro strips were only on the outside of the insulation to tie itself together.
