Hey all, Chicago resident checking in. My dad will be in Massachusetts this weekend for a vacation and I wanted to find some beer for him to bring back to the distant lands of the Midwest. Any local/regional recommendations?

    Thanks!

I can give some western mass recommendations that can be found in bombers or cans.

Wormtown: hopulence or be hoppy (if cans can be found)
BBC: lost sailor ipa (cans), draymans porter, coffeehouse porter, oktoberfest
Lefty's: graham cracker porter, barrel aged scotch ale, english style porter
    Element: ESO
spencer: trappist ale (first trappist beer in the US).
brewmaster jack: ambrewsia (dipa) or hop essence series (galaxy is probably freshest)
    people's pint: double ipa
    Brash brewing: item 9

    Not western mass:
    Clown shoes: any of them
    mayflower: porter
    Jacks Abby: any of them
    pretty things: any of them
    ipswich: oatmeal stout

Any Night Shift, Trillium, Idle Hands, Mystic, Clown Shoes, Jack's Abbey will do just fine.

Trillium if in Boston. - Fort Point Pale Ale, whatever IPA they have going, (Congress St, Summer St, Melcher St)
Jack's Abbey if in the burbs. - Mass Rising, Hoponious Union, Copper Legend, and they have some off the wall varieties at the brewery.

Both breweries are "easy" to get to and grab some beer, both are outstanding. Growlers fills available at both and bottles, although limited bottles at Trillium. Jack's Abbey stuff can be found in most stores in Mass.

Treehouse it more of a project to get to and get beer unless he is actually out west on the Mass Pike already.

If he isn't into making a beer pilgrimage for you the best bet for stopping at a Beer Store will be Jack's Abbey.

You guys realize his dad is doing the beer picking up for him. I can't imagine his father would want to stand around with a bunch of neck beards in line at treehouse to score a few bottles/growlers..of which he will have to pay for and most likely rarely, if ever, get to fill them up again.

Think he is for real though. Hate it when someone, whom just joined BA that day, asks a question and fifty BA's answer the OP is never heard from again. I actually think it's BA's "having fun" under another name. Sometimes the OP joined 5+ years ago and was never used during that time. I also can't stand the people who rate a beer or place way under or over the average and were never heard from again after that one time.
