    Yup. Good value.

Also... since "value" is perception based, it seems like this equation should contain an additional quantifiable element in addition to AU.... right?

    Otherwise:
    30 pack of Bud @ $18.00 / (360 * 5.0% ABV) = 1 cent per AU

Yeah, but who really drinks BMC on this site and likes it? I will use this formula against other craft offerings.

This brings to mind Oscar Wilde's quip that the cynic knows the price of everything and the value of nothing.

24 pack of Genne Bock for $15.99/ ((24*12) * 5.2) = 1.06 cents per AU , if my math is right.

I'm just popping in to express how envious I am of you guys who have Costcos nearby that stock quality brews like the aforementioned at such ridiculous prices. Insanity!!!

Big Flats 1901. Its the Walgreens store brand, and nasty. But if all you care about is $:abv, then you can get drunk for less than $4. I think your equation should factor in tue BA score somehow, but I'm no mathamagician, so I can't help you there.

OP, I appreciate your mathematical efforts (and good job!), but your formula assumes that your alcoholic unit is the same as quality of taste (although there could be a correlation with whales), which it's not. I'd rather pay extra for what I know has the better taste.

While I understand the value of math, I always hated it, was only occasionally good at it, and never pulled out the calculator, slide rule, or sextant to navigate beer value and/or pricing. I'm like a kid in a candy shop. I buy whatever I want just exactly at that moment. Alcohol percentage is a curiosity but not a deal maker.

Irrelevant conversation for those who don't have access to purchasing alcohol in Costco, Trader Joe's, etc. as in PA where we have ancient laws.

Multiple your current equation by the BA rAVG and you might be going somewhere for me at least

Walgreen's has their own private label beer brands? For some reason this seems very odd and surprising.

All this really shows is that it's cheaper to buy in bulk in a smaller format than in bombers or 750s. I would bet the more pricing you added in it would just produce a right sided normalized set of values, with macro 12oz at one end, craft 12oz the middle-right and Bruery at the other end. QED.

best beer value for me is more based on a subjective taste rating:

ex: voodoo donut = 0 taste units x (who the hell cares how many $) = abject failure and fiscally irresponsible
meanwhile... big john = 99 taste units x (still who the hell cares how many $) = bargain!

Unless I'm actually brewing, I don't ever want to hear "math" and "beer" in the same sentence.
