Queen City Q has great BBQ, and a heavy concentration of Charlotte locals on tap. Moe's also has great food, and a special event tonight with a bunch of rare(r) beers.

For bottle shopping, head to Carolina Beer Temple. Great spot where you can grab a pint and shop. You'll find no shortage of options there you can't get back home.

Sure. If you have a reasonable abundance of time, I'd say hit QCQ for dinner and trying some locals, then stop by Moes to try Barrel Aged Ten Fidy on tap, then walk the 50 feet or so to Beer Temple for shopping.

There are 2 with a soon to be 3rd option for BBQ in Mathews. Moe's BBQ in downtown Matthews (near CBT) is way better than QCQ, and they have a great tap list as well. Macs speed shop is trying to open within 2 weeks or so, so depending on your timing another solid BBQ option. Macs will be off John road in Matthews & Trade street, just around the corner from Moe's and CBT.

Beer for take, you do have Carolina Beer Temple, but also Total Wine and More at Providence & 485, large selection better costs savings.

Carolina Beer Temple, Temple Mojo, and Seaboard Tap are the places to go and have a beer. All three owned by the same guy, all with different vibes and tap lists. All within a minute walk of each other. Agree that Total Wine would have the biggest selection but don't expect any help like you would get at the beer temple.

Personally I wasn't impressed the one time I went to Moe's BBQ and haven't been back (the beer list was good though). If Mac's BBQ is open when you come, go there. Much more consistent (at least at the other locations). They also have a great beer list.

Moe's BBQ in Matthews, hands down! Try their Que, wings, catfish, corn bread, sides, etc.,...The owners are big BA'ers and they always have great beer on tap!

Thanks everyone - I looked at moes but I wonder about it being such a large chain Restaurant.
I generally try to support the smaller places. I heard of a place called midtown smokehouse.
    Any experiences there?

Temple Mojo just opened in Matthews. Same owners as the Carolina beer temple.

Midwood is good. There's a location in Ballentyne, closer to Matthews.
