Have any bottles of this moved at all recently? Very few mentions in the forums, and no indication anyone even had one. Are there any left in the wild at all?

Technically one would of had to gotten it from an employee as it was never released...

The only times I ever saw/heard of them was at festivals or special events where they opened bottles and poured samples. There were some QC issues so they never went up for sale, although when I tried it, I thought it was one of the best Allagash wilds I've ever had.

Right. But this happened in quite a few cases. Trying to figure out if any of these are still around...

I tried to get one a couple years ago. I couldn't find an employee that hadn't drank theirs. Allagash holds these bottles really close to their chest because of the carbonation issue. Best way to get them is at festivals, special tastings, or maybe if you ask nicely on a tour they will pop one for you. I can't imagine it would go for anything less than a serious whale on here. One of the most robust fruited sours I've had.

But isn't there a rumor they are trying to make it again?

Sooooo good. Had it at BCTC a few years ago.

It would be awesome if they made it again.

It was rebrewed either late last year or earlier this year

Yeah, I've had it once. Friggin' delicious. I applaud them for being so touchy about them given that it did not come out perfect, but dammit, I want a bottle!

The last time I heard about Mattina Rossa was very early June when Pigs Fly in Kittery was doing an Allasgash dinner with that as one of the courses. I don't know why I didn't go to that?

But they just announced that they're brewing a new batch of Avance!

It was served from the bottles at an Allagash-sponsored food event in Portland this winter. Tasty. Snagged an empty as a memento.

Nice. I would love an empty if anyone happens to have one lying around... BM me. (I, for some reason, seem to think it's a good idea to collect bottles. Don't start this hobby.)

Blech. I apparently am the only person in the world who thinks that beer is utterly terrible. The only fuckup I've ever had from Allagash. Total, muddled mess.

Any idea where you heard that? Twitter or Facebook? Or from one of the brewers?

They had some bottles at the Vermont Brewfest this past weekend. I went to the Saturday night session, and was lucky enough to try it twice. No line for it at all. Probably one of the best Allagash sours I have had. I wish I asked for an empty bottle to keep. I did talk to the guy pouring it and the brewers are apparently remaking it, but wont be ready until 2015.

I wish I had known it while I was there.

Only reason I knew was because I had one of the pamphlets. I heard a lot of people did not get any. I would say there was 10-15 bottles available for samples.

2015!?!? 2 years of barrel aging??? That is insane. I was hoping to complete a full Allagash Coolship tasting but waiting 2 more years might break me. That and having to track down all of the Coolships that are released between now and then. Getting the first 10+ have been enough of a pain in the arse.

Do you mean sour tasting? Because Mattina isn't a Coolship...
