Not sure if this is the right thread to ask about Hawaii but I am heading to Maui tomorrow and was wondering if anyone has an idea of what is available over there (I would think maybe a few Lagunitas and Sierra Nevada brews) as far as good craft stuff goes. If you have any recommendations on where to buy beer or bars to check out I would greatly appreciate it!

    Thanks everyone!

Might be helpful to add where you are staying. I have had a great time at the Maui Brewing brewpub.

Lahaina - sorry, meant to include that.

Aloha from Lahaina! I was focused on Hawaiian beers while here, though I didn't get out much with the intent to find good stuff.

If you're a Costco member, the Costco on the way out from the airport had cases of Maui Brewing Company's Bikini Blonde, and a variety case of Kona.

The Safeway in Lahaina had Maui Brewing and Kona, they also had Mucho Aloha HPA labeled as a local. It is not a local beer. The prices on Maui Brewing Company at the Safeway were just a little lower than at the brewpub, but less fresh.

Oh, I miss that Pueo Pale. I must have had 5 gallons of that in a week.

I don't see any "guest beers" on the MBC chalkboard. They used to have 2 or 3 offerings from the mainland in case you got tired of the local stuff (which is great stuff IMO). There is a bar in Kihei called Monkey Pod that has some decent variety on tap.
    Have a great time, Mahalo!

While MonkeyPod does have a good selection and view, even for Maui prices it's steep!
Hit the Whole Foods, which is closer to the airport than costco. Just veer right as you exit the airport .
Hell, Kihei Safeway was decent as is Foodland. While not craft, a drank a shit ton of Primo there.

Copied from another thread where I posted the same info:

Hey man, if you look at the places guide you will find a lot of reviews I have added for Maui. I usually go once a year and I added some new spots from my last trip this past July.

Here are my top recommendations for Maui:

    * Maui Brewing - the tour is pretty interesting and for $10 you get the tour, a flight at the end of the tour, and a token for a full pour at the brewpub down the street.
    * Tamura's - good bottle selection
    * Whole Foods - good bottle selection
    * The Wine Corner - good bottle selection

Monkeypod Kitchen is actually down in the Wailea area. My wife and I were there last month and loved it. Awesome food, good beer. I did note though that the bottled stuff appeared more pricy than tap. A bottle of Victory at Sea was $24!

Big Island Brewhaus is getting distribution around the state more. Definitely check them out if you're looking for local beer. The have solid reviews on here. Currently bottled in 22 oz are the Overboard IPA, Golden Sabbath, White Mountain Porter and Holy Hummulus.
