Does anyone know what the max vol of co2 the Pliny The Elder style 500ml bottles can be bottle conditioned to?

Has anyone used these bottle before? What volume did you carbonate it to?

    Thanks for the help!

Same as any other bottle (with a little more room for error)...4? (guess)

Have used them before...many moons ago...3.2

Just used a carb cap on a glass growler with 10 psi (I was shaking behind the towel and ppe : )

Just bottled some wild ale at 3.5 in some belgian 500ml bottles.
EDIT: I bottle my DIPA near 2.5 tops. Are you over carbbing on purpose?

I start to look for thicker glass when I plan to go past 3 volumes. 3 is as high as i would be comfortable with for a used Pliny bottle.

My hefe was over-carbed at something like 4.0 vol's of CO2... Had bottled in both standard 12oz and 22oz bottles, not a single bomb out of 35 or so... I won't make that mistake again though!

I use them in a regular basis, it is a pretty cool bottle size for me. I force carbonate my beers, for a Pliny The Elder clone I use 2.7 vol of Co2 which makes my bottling work hard cos I need to cap very fast to avoid losing beer due sudden fizzle. If you are going to carb using sugars 2.7 Co2 vol will be the highest point ,IMHO.
