I have been thinking about posting an offer for one. Can anyone provide some ideas of what would land this from beers that we get in Chicago?
Wait 3 more weeks. New batch being released, even some to distro. Should be easier to get then. As to what you'll have to give up, no clue what this years batch will bring. My guess is $4$ with other similar limited release stuff.
This years batch still tasted amazing about a month ago when I had my last bottle. Earliest I had it was on tap at Huna Day. It never really had much "bacon" to begin with. Still tasted like delicious pancakes with maple syrup washed down with a nice cup o joe.
I hadn't heard of this either, but I just called the brewery and the answer was, "we do not know for sure if will hit distro, it will all depend on how much will be bottled... the beer is still in the tanks". To answer your original question, some Prop will get you MBCP. Even though we got some here in S. Florida, Vanilla will probably get you MBCP, as well. There is no bacon in MBCP, nor is meant to taste like bacon. Smoked malts is what the "bacon" is for... @riemster
I'm aware. That's what the quotes surrounding the word "bacon" are for. There isn't much smoke in that beer to begin with. Or maybe I should have italicized the word bacon? I don't know. I was saying that because most people think they are going to get hit with smoke, maple, and coffee. It's mostly just maple and coffee.
The smokiness is subtle, last year's was mostly a maple bomb, coffee came in right after and the smoke was a nice punctuation throughout. Personally I think it's better that way, since smokiness seems to be one of the less popular flavor characteristics in beer.
I got a really heavy smell and taste of smokiness to serve as the bacon in the namesake. I was able to actually pull all flavors of the name out of the taste. It was such a well put together beer I can't imagine how to improve on it this year.
Was thinking of holding onto a 4pk of Luscious to trade for this but...is this going to be like BCBS variants and trade like it's never going to be bottled again?
