MBG Summer Beerfest!!!

Got mine yesterday during the MBG pre-sale. Hitting Friday with the wife and other friends and family members!

I'm in for Friday, looking forward to the taplist.

 

I contemplated Friday and Saturday, but Friday always gets rained on big time. I remember at my first summer beer fest in 2010, it downpoured for about an hour. It was a blast under the beer tents, people were drunk and cheering as it rained harder and harder. Then the big inflatable Bells Oberon bottle started floating away and some Bells employees were forced to get soaked and save it.

 

I have gone both days the past two years and Friday was the superior day both times, by far. Much cooler weather, a ton less people. I will probably only go on Saturday this year though. Two days is rough, and Saturday is just easier to do schedule-wise. Friday is the better day to go though in my experience. And regarding weather, I wasn't there in 2010, but we got poured on on Saturday in 2011. It wasn't until the last 45 minutes or so though.

 

Friday was fine in '09, '11 and '12. '10 was a riot with the tornado sirens going off.

 

Got tickets for Saturday any good places to stay somewhat close by

 

So are the beer offerings usually the same for both days or is one superior?

 

Shorter lines at Friday and usually cooler temps. Taps are generally the same for both days but some will run out for Saturday.

 

I got my confirmation email Monday for Saturday. My wife can't get home in time Friday, so we kill it Saturday.

The week leading up to Summer Beer Fest last year was awesome - Arbor Brewing had a release for their Livery/Vivant sour collaboration, Sidetracks had a Shorts tap takeover, and a bar whose name escapes me had a Bells tap takeover and we easily got seats as soon as we walked in.

Have to recommend Sidetracks, solid tap list and very good burgers. Its right down the street from riverside park.
