I'm sorry to hear about your negative experience. We clean 50 of our 100 draft lines each Wednesday morning, ensuring that all lines are cleaned bi-weekly. In fact, I've been replying to this thread during the rinse stage of our cleaning process. Perhaps it was a bad keg. Hopefully you informed your server or bartender and they took care of it for you.

Kind of surprised at those who are completely dismissing Meadhall. Sure, it doesn't have the reputation and unique tap list of Lord Hobo. And it's not a stellar brew pub like CBC. But I enjoy the multitude of options there. I'm big on drinking sessionable beers, and they have multiple options in that category. Nothing incredibly rare on the list, but it's a solid list. Each style has various options available. And there's ALWAYS plenty of room inside. That's something I can't say for very many bars in the Boston area.

I also give them credit for being the only bar I've seen that lists their pours in a shaker pint as 14 oz. In addition to that, the bartenders know to ask before pouring the yeast in when you order a bottled Belgian beer.

while i "stand behind" (ie wasn't just talking out of my ass) what i said before about being unimpressed last time i stopped in, i want to point out that the downloaded menu above has lagunitas waldo's special ale on it. if you like dank, weed-like IPAs, or just lagunitas IPAs in general, go get it: it's the Final Form of the lagunitas IPA. The Best.

I've only been a couple times and can't say I had a problem with it. Yes, prices are on the higher end of the spectrum and the lack of a website is a joke, but it's not a bad place. Personally, I'd take CBC's patio over any other drinking venue in the Boston area

The patio is nice. However, I'd like it better if it were an actual beer garden, with one central outside bar to get beer and then seat yourself at tables. If I'm going somewhere for drinks only, I hate to be waited on. I like going up to a bar and then seating myself. I'm not knocking CBC, keep doing what you're doing, just a personal preference.

As far as indoor atmosphere, Meadhall is number one. No beer bar in the area has even close to that space, I've never been there and not had plenty of room. And the music isn't loud either.

That's my one knock on places like Lord Hobo and Deep Ellum (especially Deep Ellum). There just isn't enough room when it becomes crowded (as they tend to be on weekends).

With the CBC, Lord Hobo and Atwood's all within walking distance, I'd say it's definitely not worth a visit. In a neighborhood with less options, sure, but it's way behind those places when it comes to selection (well-curated, not just long), price, vibe, food and service. The beer list is long, but I agree that it tends to be unimpressive and overpriced. I've found the food to be smothered with salt and garlic, and not in a good way. Service has ranged from attentive to blatantly rude. There are some good beers on there for sure, but more often than not if it's something interesting the price will range toward being outrageous. Lord Hobo manages to have a much more interesting list with a much better range of prices. And the CBC is a phenomenal brewpub serving their own excellent beer. Both have better prices, better atmospheres, better food and better service, in my opinion. And while Atwood's isn't as heavy of a hitter, it always has some gems (often some hard-to-find local stuff) on-tap, some very good food, good service and one of the nicest patios in the city (CBC has one of the other nicest).

That's for a "Boston pint" meaning it's served in a shaker pint glass with room for head. Most other bars would list that as a pint.

i wouldn't pay $8 for 16oz either, whether they leave room for head or not.

You might be able to get it for $7 around Boston. Boston prices are awful.

unfortunately, the answer for me has always been "only buy amazing things or go to CBC". not that CBC isn't amazing, but the prices are better than getting, like, IPAs for > half the price of a sixpack of said IPA (e.g. all the IPAs on the menu posted by braineater, and yeah, pretty much any appearance of things like GF west coast IPA in any boston bar).
