    Why put the quotes around underage or reference it as "claimed"? Unless the writer misquoted her or the statement is taken out of context, she unambiguously admits to both drinking underage and being served alcohol in a bar while underage.

    Quotes because I don't agree with a drinking age of 21.

    As for her being served, she could have very easily used a fake ID. I think she sounds a little proud of the fact that she was doing blind tastings while her peers were funneling Natty light, but why wouldn't she be proud of that?

    You're right that it didn't mention natty light, or what and how* most 19-21 year olds are drinking, that's just from my own research :stuck_out_tongue: She did mention ordering a beer with her meal at 19, though.

    No one is damning her. I was simply pointing out that the statement in StLeasy's post was not in line with the facts presented in the article. His opinions on drinking ages aside, what he said was misleading and implied that she may not have been drinking underage.

    Good for her. it used to be eighteen for both dirnking and enlisting and that seemed to fit. She can do it I'm sure.

    One of the beautiful things about NYC is that it is incredibly easy to drink underage, particularly at fine restaurants. NYC is a nanny state in many ways, but the people, the restaurateurs, and bar owners, they're much more libertarian. Or they just like breaking rules and saying "Fuck 'em."
