So opening day is 2 1/2 weeks away. Who is planning to be there? I'm excited about this opening more so than any other recent one. I can't tell you why...........well maybe I can. The description of what they do reminds me a lot of Suarez Family Brewing which I am a huge fanboy of.

    Waiting on 8/31.......

@Mipper, are you part of the Founders Club as well?

Not sure if I will go over Friday as that is liable to be a show. Depending on their opening time Saturday, maybe I’ll try and get over before the Penn State game. Regardless, I am very excited for this place to open.

I had never heard of Mellow Mink so looked up their website to see where they were located. The descriptions of their approach to beer seem to be contradictory:

Then they have a couple pages about sour beer and that they are inspired by Belgian Gueuze. I am not a big sour drinker, because I have never tried a gueuze beer that was "easy to drink" or "subtle".

    Also, this line:
Again, NE style IPAs and imperial stouts are all about bold flavors.

As a Founding Member, I was able to go a 'Members Only' tasting two weekends ago. The inside of the brewery might be the nicest brewery I've ever been to. Very upscale and sleek. Was (pleasantly) surprised to see multiple TVs on the wall, based solely on the look of the inside.

Their beers, to me, ranged from very mediocre to very good. I was able to taste a hoppy red, a table saison, dry hopped sour, a session IPA and a fruited sour. Personally, I can't wait to see what these guys are able to do.

Have you been getting any e-mail updates on the membership? I don't recall getting any info or seeing a Facebook Group created for Founders. I noticed they put some info out on social media as well as on the website when we login, but never get notified.

I actually sent them an email after months of no contact, and the fact that they had stated a late March (I think) planned opening. Ironically it was just a week before their Members only opening. They responded quickly to my inquiry but other than that, the only communication was their email telling members that they had to 'purchase' a ticket to the Members Event (for $0) on their website.

I assume if you're in Texas, you've got a proxy already lined up? I'd suggest emailing them if you have any questions, they were very prompt, and courteous, in their response to me.

    Cheers

I don't have a proxy yet, as I was possibly planning a trip to pick up the beer next summer but still debating.

I will reach out again to them. I had them change my e-mail to see if that worked but still didn't get the message about the ticket purchase.

Yeah, the photos look great. I can imagine that once you’re inside, you’d never know you are in a strip mall.

Thanks for the little review. Which beers fell where on your spectrum of very mediocre to very good?

Ah, I guess it doesn’t matter. I’ll try them all.

Glad you had a good time. Looking forward to my visit.

Reportedly there I see a line out the door for pours tonight. I'm not there but saw a picture. Curious if the beer will hold up to the attention it's gotten.

We were there about 90 minutes ago and it started to thin out. No line out the door but a good crowd.

I stopped by Friday too. Had about a 10 minute wait for a pour. Kind of par for the course on an opening night. It was super loud inside. I'm really not a fan of this trend of having everything be hard surfaces and not, at the very least, putting up some kind of sound baffles.

I am not in the Founders Club, I missed the window, but if the owners allow it, I would be glad to help you out.

On a separate note, I was able to finally go there a week and a half ago. It's very nice inside. They don't serve food, but allow you to bring it in. I have 4 of their pours and I enjoyed them all and would gladly order them again. I also got to meet the owners and I asked them if I could bring in stuff to share with them and the staff and they said sure! So I walked right out (I love a mile + away) and came back and shared a Suarez Family Brewing bottle, a Loon, and some KLP Gose. I had a great time.

Sounds good. I will let you know. I may just make a trip to PA next summer and collect the beer myself as well. Nothing has been released yet so not sure when stuff will start
