Cool! Was hoping one of those spokes might reach into Spokane, but that's ok. I'm just happy for now to be able to find a few of their beers in cans on the shelves now.

That’s an interesting and aspirational approach. I liked the Melvin ipa I had. Good luck to them.

I think this is the wave of the future. Beers being distributed from far away to your area store isn't simply enough. This is the new 'local'. I see that Golden Road is trying to open brewpubs up all over CA and dominate there. They get boycotted and hated on (I think they deserve it btw). Here, a product can truly be called local now. That's what people want.

I've only had their regular canned IPA and DIPA. I found them quite a bit above par, which is pretty much were every brewery has now with one of their core lineup IPAs. I guess above par is the new par. It'll be tough and competitive but they are going for it.. I could see them trying to open in less competitive markets like Green Flash is doing in Nebraska.

They also mention possible distro to NM. I'm for it. But it'll be like every other distribution release. We care about it for maybe two months and then beers will start to sit. It's said seeing all these big names with beers that are at least 6 weeks old the majority of the time. I liked their IPA/DIPA but felt it didnt wow me any differently than a Lagunitas IPA or a Stone IPA, or Odell IPA etc.

Get into a neighborhood. Make solid beer. Have solid food and a fun atmosphere and I think any place can thrive pretty much anywhere. Breweries are the new restaurants. We just havent seem the failure rate hit breweries just yet (they do tend to take much more investment and investors, so the downturn for closure seems to be 5-10 years down the line.) Restaurants can close within 6 months.

I enjoyed the hell out of Experimental J-Hole, their collab with Rhinegeist in Cincinnati. If I'm ever out that way, I'd love to check them out

Wishing them the best. Been to their brewpub/Thai restaurant in Jackson Hole a couple times. Family and I loved their place! Recommend to anyone who visit Jackson, WY.

Wonder how long till an East coast outpost too, they have absolutely flooded the Philly market as of late. Testing out more national waters before expansion is a great idea.

Damn. They're really blowing up. Which is fine by me because everything I've had from Melvin thus far has been good. 2X4 is my favorite, and I really want to try Hubert, Killer Bees, and Lambda Lambda Lambda.

Melvin has started sending things here, and I have tasted some from trades. They are good solid beers that, frankly, are a step or two lower quality than their local competition around here. It will be interesting to see if they can make a go of it in this market.

I have to comment on this again..I have no idea if there is factors I am missing here but while in Wyoming I could not get Melvin for the life of me in Sheridan, and then you see it so far away.

I never had a fresh Melvin the whole time I was in Wyoming and that really was a bummer!

Same with Boston - they are suddenly everywhere. I really enjoyed their pale and IPA. Great change of pace if you're looking for a bit of an older school malt profile in a modernly mega hopped beer.

I am guessing they will use 2x4 day as a method to test out a few new markets. I remember them trying to have one in Austin this year but TABC is such a pain that it didn't happen.

Melvin's IPAs are some of the best I've had. Hope they eventually open up something in the Twin Cities!

I really like them, but at $14+ a pack I'm probably going to go for cheaper options most of the time. It's a shame, too, because if they were just a few less dollars I'd be buying them regularly.

For me they would have to be in Sierra Nevada range of price per ounce to ever consider buying them again. For a buck of two more for a 4 pak I can get beers far better and fresher than Melvin every day of the week.

I came in hoping for a new pub in Kansas City, and found out they'll open distribution up about 200 miles west of me, and a new brew pub 200 miles east of me. Bummer. I'll continue to support true local in the meantime.

It makes sense to put the brewpub on the St. Louis side. They have a much stronger beer culture there, as much as it pains me to say it. Plus Eureka puts them in striking distance of putting a spoke location in downtown St. Louis.

Their pale and flagship IPA are $10 for a six pack (12 oz) out here which is a good price in Boston. But then the DIPA and a couple other styles jump to $13-$14 for a 4 pack (also 12 oz). I can imagine the former doing well enough here but not so much the latter. I've only pulled the trigger on the $10 six packs myself.

Damn it! $14.49 for the six pack of flagship IPA and $14.99 for the four pack of 2x4 here.

Weird that the pricing seems so different region to region but this seems to come up repeatedly in various threads for various breweries. I wonder how much of it is carefully considered marketing jujitsu and how much of it is just random distributor whims.

I wish I knew, because MA is farther from Melvin than NY is, (and I don't live in NYC, either) but it's more expensive here than in Boston. What gives?
