It's pretty sad how Melvin showed up on my local shelves a year ago and the cans were days old. I was on that like stink on shit, and 4x cans of the riipa series were $10. Score! Now under this new distributor the price has gone up, while it takes six weeks for the beers to show up. I'm afraid that this is going to put Melvin in the same situation as all the other beers coming to Denver. Like @cavedave said, I can get fresher and cheaper locals now. It blows because Melvin makes my favorite beers. The price doesn't bug me, I have paid more for worse, but I'm not going to pay more $$$ for a six week old version of a beer when I used to get week old versions for less. @Oktoberfiesta Elevated cans are less costly and I still find em at a week old.
@MelvinBrewing_2x4 @flyone I got nothing but love for the product, but things are starting to look like there's a disconnect between brewing and distro.

Just one more example for why the drink local movement is so strong?

    Cheers!

Jack, I think Melvin is making the same moves most breweries their size are forced to make when they expand the brewhouse. The downside is production goes up, but the product has to get moved somehow. It's no longer feasible for Melvin to self distribute because their footprint has expanded too far, so an outside distributor is called in. So now the beer gets marked up by this middle man, and the beer sits for extra time in their warehouse. It's cheaper for Melvin to hire these guys, but the distribution company doesn't necessarily care about freshness as much as they care about dollars.

Those guys need to come down here to FL. I’m getting tired of paying for shipping for 2x4!!
