Looks like there was a fresh drop of Drunken Master in Denver.

I'm impressed that you crushed a 6er on a school night with all those kids around to ruin your focus :stuck_out_tongue:

A bit off topic...is Melvin doing anything special for the eclipse? We're heading up to Fremont Lake for that weekend

Did all stores raise the prices on Melvin or just Hazels? The IPA use to be $11.98 and now it's $12.98(that's getting steep for a 6 pack of IPA) Hubert was $10.98 and now is $11.98.

They are on sale all this month at Wyatt's. I believe Hubert is 8.99 and IPA is 9.99.

What is the reason for this?$13 for a 6 pack of IPA is a bit much imo. It's right there with Sculpin which I never buy for that reason alone. Does anyone buy Sculpin?

I'd imagine it's because hops are expensive. IPA is crazy expensive to make, and it gets more expensive every year.

My guess.....and I suspect it's a good one ...is the new distributor (+ hop prices). They'll probably do something like 20-case deals, so it may be a lower price at the bigger stores. But that narrows their footprint. Side note; after months of absence, we finally got in some Odd13, but they had lost shelf space since their distro change.

this may be a strategic error. I know a lot of people whose opinion of Sculpin is negatively impacted by the price. IN NO WAY am I suggesting it's not justified by the cost of the hops, I'm just saying it may turn out to be a bridge too far for your average IPA loving shopper--who does after all have other options.

I'm out of the loop these days, who's now distributing Melvin? Is it Breakthru?

The price increase has nothing to do with our distributor. As keenly noted above by rscot, it has everything to do with hop prices. We use a metric shit ton of hops, which is why our beers taste and smell so good. As a business we have to operate at a reasonable margin, and we would rather raise the price slightly than skimp on ingredients. At least we're not selling $20 4 packs out of our taproom....Unfortunately I think you will continue to see this happen with more craft breweries that are heavy handed with hops. Thanks a lot Obama...err I mean Trump...

I'll occasionally pick up a keg since it's usually around $90 or so which puts it in the $10 sixer range, and by occasionally I mean once.

My local liquor store is asking $12 for Hubert that was canned in October 2016. Its right by the $15 eddyline sixers next to the $14 elevated four packs. I'm so happy that the supermarket across the street can't sale full strength beer.
