First post. I'm in need of some much appreciated suggestions. My buddy is throwing a Memorial Day open house this weekend and is breaking in his new kegerator for the first time. He wants to get a beer that isn't BMC, but will still appeal to the masses. He wanted Shiner Bock but found out that the price for a full keg is a little steep. He also thought of Yuengling, but it would take a longer-than-tolerable drive to Ohio to pick up. Any thoughts? Thanks a lot.

Samuel Adams Summer Ale, or Boston Lager. Sierra Nevada Summerfest would probably work too.

Rolling rock, PBR, Genesee cream ale etc... I know you said no bmc, but if you were considering yeungling... your expectations weren't that high in the first place..........

I had suggested Boston Lager, too... At the same time, I forgot all about the seasonal summer brews. It's supposed to be 95 degrees here this weekend. Something with a hint of lemon actually might go down really smooth for this occassion. Never had Sierra Nevada's Summerfest. I need to look that up.

If you werent in Ohio I would recommend reserving a barrel of Daisy Cutter from Half Acre. I dont know the exact price on their barrels but if your friend didnt want to pay for a barrel of Shiner Bock I wouldnt think he would pay for a barrel of Daisy Cutter.

There's always GI 312. But concur with JakeT. If you think Shiner was too expensive. Everything everyone is listing is probably gunna hit over $100+ for a keg. At least out here it does anyway.

I was amazed to see how fast a 1/4 of Weihenstephaner Hefewiess Dunkel went when I brought one to a BBQ, and most of the people there were BMC drinkers. Since then, thats been my go to beer when I want to appease the masses, and it never fails.
