Girlfriend and I are splitting a week vacation between Nashville and Memphis at the end of October. We have most of the Nashville spots we want to hit nailed down. Looking for Memphis recommendations as far breweries and craft beer bars go. Any other must hit spots as far as food goes is appreciated too.
Thanks for the tip. Figured there wasn't much going on in Memphis with the lack of responses to my post.
Memphis is a wasteland compared to Nashville.... Crosstown is pretty good, Wiseacre as stated above..but....not a lot to choose from
Hit one of the higher rated liquor stores. I know eventually I will hit Wiseacre, I like a lot of their beers
The BBQ Shop for ribs and Payne's for pulled pork should be on your list... there are lots of BBQ places but you need to hit these 2 for sure...Rendezvous is the most well known and it's ok but NOT the best ribs in Memphis... get the dry rub babybacks from BBQ Shop with sauce on the side for dipping...
Heading through Memphis next weekend and wondering if I can count on Flying Saucer to have a decent selection of local brews? Just staying for a quick overnight, so don't have a lot of time to explore.
Memphis FS usually has a big selection of local beers. I wouldn't worry about that. You may also run into the guy that holds the record for # of plates.
Howdy South-region Advocates! I'm going to be passing through Memphis in a few weeks traveling home for the holidays. The threads on the Memphis craft been scene are sparse. What is the best bottle shop in town? Looking for local & regional options, mainly into sours and west coast IPAs. Some stouts, just not pastries. Thanks for any input!
I realize this is probably way too late but here goes my 2 cents. There's a pretty big lack of good distribution, for example I haven't ever seen Anchor's Christmas Ale (something I never had trouble finding in NC) since I moved here in 2016. I'm not sure you'll have much luck in the sours or west coast IPA's...That said you'll find plenty of local stuff, but again, there probably isn't a ton in the way of sours. So, bottle shops: Busters on Highland Cash Saver on Madison in Midtown Corks in Germantown in the Target/Sprouts shopping center (this is my personal go-to store) Poplar Wine and Spirits in Collierville...smaller selection. Cheers in Collierville, again a pretty small selection but I find hidden gems there on occasion. Good luck and Merry Christmas ya filthy animal!
Thanks @Wanda You were a little late and unfornuately Ive already came and gone from your metro. That said, after extensive research prior to, I decided to hit up Corks in Germantown and it didn’t disappoint. I appreciate you responding! Merry Christmas!
For food in Memphis I loved BBQ at “The Commissary” I think it was actually in Germantown but worth the visit.
