The place i go doesn't have a menu for beer even. They have them all lined on the wall. theres about 30 bottled beers and 10 on tap and i cant see them cuz they're on the far corner of the bar and the lights glare off them. A menu in general would be nice

I have never been in a place that did not list the beer prices. This may have been mentioned, but is there a reason that you couldn't ask for the price when ordering?

    This is super annoying.

I don't think I have ever seen beer prices on a menu. Other than the typical "$2 blah blah happy hour" shit.

I think it's mostly because the majority won't buy it if they see the price. It's the only logical reason that I can think of in my buzzed state.

Visible prices actually increase incidents of purchase in restaurants/bars. According to studies I've seen anyway, and now can't find a link to...

its like going to a strip club a dancer coming over to you asking if you want to buy her a drink her ordering a Champagne cocktail and at the end of the night finding out you owe $75 for ginger ale and grenadine.

Oddly enough, I just saw some beer listed as "Market Price" at a place not known for beer. The BMCs they had priced, along with things like Sam's Lager, and GL Dortmunder, but the seasonal items were Market Price. T'was the only time I've ever seen it.

Chains, and also places that are trying to be well known for their food. But strangely, the one high end spot I'd been to that didn't list prices had their stuff at or below the average bar price for the area.

A new tap room just opened nearby and the menu only shows prices for glasses of wine, not the cocktails or the beer. I find that weird and annoying as they advertised this place leading people to believe that they might be a brewery. They have great food and a pretty good tap list.
Now with all that said they only serve pints of Lite and Blue Moon, the only two BMC beers on tap, rest of the craft beers all come in a 12oz flared lipped snifter (not sure what these are called) which are nice but we're getting probably 10oz pours. This goes for everything from Imperial Stouts to Session IPA's and of course the prices very but all are quite high for this area. Heck they're right in line with downtown Chicago pricing but you get your beer served in pints there.
I've asked why a couple of times and the only good answer is that the menu changes all the time so it would be too difficult to keep up???
They're reprinting the menu every-time they change out a tap so I'll have to believe they're just saving ink.

That's a poor excuse. One of my local places has 100 taps, and they print new menus every day, with the prices included.

Maybe he's confusing the name or something. I would be in the same boat especially for a 16oz of CBS, "Keep these coming!!."

When out of town I rarely care about price and go with the flow. Most places are reasonable. I've never been stunned by a bill. There is a fairly reputable retail spot in town that has no shelf pricing, and when you go to the register, the very nice proprietor will say, "how about $2.99?" Most people say it's a good place to shop.

I feel if there is no price on the menu for the particular item, it is up to you to pay whatever you want for it.

I know. I travel a good bit and always try new beers....if there is an issue I'll ask nicely and not worry. In San Francisco, I drink Anchor Steam and truly don't care about price. My brother in law- who would rather win at golf than play- actually seems to enjoy being pissed of in public, and this would drive him crazy. It's probably a defined syndrome of some sort! I try not to waste my worries.

Wish it was a law in every state! Must list quantity and price on menu. I applaud places that do this and am more inclined to return.
